Hi. I am new to this particular forum.

I am also new to RAT knives, and I only own the Izula. Six of them, actually. All black.

I would buy more RAT models but have plenty of knives to fill the other niches. I hope RAT makes a machete, golok or other chopping machine as that would be the only other model I would buy. And I would probably buy six of them as well.

But in the fixed-blade, concealed carry, non-scary-looking-yet-totally-dangerous category, the Izula is the only one I own, from any maker.

They are comfortable to carry.

They are easy to hide.

They are ergonomic.

They are very tough.

They slice through almost anything.

They are easy to acquire.

And, if I break one, I know I have invested hours of training and general tasks into the breakage, which will compensate for the < $50 I spent on it.

In a nutshell, I like Izulas and cannot think of a better knife for general use, daily carry, or for beating the crap out of while doing self-defense training against various targets. And if you cannot afford to train with a knife, then how will you ever know how to really use it?

So I just want to thank you, RAT, for making the Izula.

Now, what's this rumor I hear about a stainless version...?

RAT is making a machete, so good news for you! It'll be a collaboration with Condor Knife and Tool.

The rumor regarding a stainless Izula is as follows: A certain South African knife company was found to be making a stainless replica of the Izula. After a lot of angry emails (from all of us) he apologized to Jeff directly and took it down off the site. Apparently a customer had asked him to produce the model and he had no idea that it was a RAT design. Jeff then sanctioned the production of said knife, since the fellow was so up front about it all.

It's an unofficial knife (like the Ontario pieces) so DON'T bombard Jeff or the mods with questions regarding it. The fellow making the stainless Izula knock-off runs Tac Knives. The website is currently down, but the model is called the Gecko. IIRC it's done in 13C26 Sandvik.

The Izula was the RAT knife I was the least interested in originally. Now it just may be my favorite knife from any company.
