So I posted this on the general discussion forum, and granted I think I will get a slightly slanted view here, but I think that's ok. :)

I'm looking for a necker. Thought I would ask for opinions on these two one against the other.

I have gone back and forth over the last few days.

Becker +
Larger blade
Better cost

Becker -
Some say too much blade for the handle
Odd handle for para wrapping
How comfie is the wire breaker on the palm of your hand??

RAT+
Company gets AWESOME reviews
Gets the general nod from most

RAT-
Slightly more expensive
Slightly smaller blade (but this could be a plus for "concealed" carry)
I wish the sheath had 4 holes like the Becker, not just two on one side and a "slot" on the other.

My main reason for one of these knives is to carry it on the shoulder strap of my field pack or on the belt of my pants as a back up blade.

I'm going to post the same post on the Becker page. But I do want to hear the opinions of the fans!

I handled both side by side Friday at a knife store, and I honestly feel the RAT Izula will be a better all around user.

I own both. In terms of sheer handle comfort, the Izula wins hands down. Either wrapped or unwrapped my Izula handle beats the Becker everytime. I also find the blade shape of the Izula more useful. The Becker is a good knife. The Izula is a great knife.

I have both. Owned & carried a Necker first, then got an Izula. I dropped the Necker & carry the Izula daily. Honest to God, I cant sharpen the Becker at all, free hand or Sharpmaker (and have posted this in the past). But the Izula is as sharp as day 1. I like the length of the Becker blade though, but I like the point/tip on the Izula for fine work (Becker has blunt tip, cantt fit into small area). I do like the Becker Sheath because its symetrical, the Izula is easier to hide (conceal). I would buy another Izula, this is my last BK11.

I also have both. I love both, but EDC the Izula. I like the handle better and the blade shape.

Can't do wrong on either, but there's a reason I own two Izula's and only one Becker Necker.

I keep one on my belt for work, and one on my Maxpedition Water bottle carrier.

I didn't have any problems sharpening the becker necker - it took a nice sharp convex edge on the belt grinder.

The little bottle opener thingy doesn't seem to cause any comfort issues, but the handle is a funky shape and a bit tough to get a good cord wrap on. I'd probably go for the izula if I were you

Own both, like both, but I like the Izula much better.
The Necker handle just does not do it for me, knife will stay in the truck.
The Izula is hard to beat as a necker or pocket edc.

I had the Becker but ended up returning it. I liked the blade shape and the handle alright, but it fit loosely in the sheath. It would click in place but then rock back and forth and that annoyed me. I could just see me walking in the woods listening to the blade hitting the sides of the sheath. Now I want to try an Izula, I don't think it has that problem. I'd say handle both if you can before making a decision.

The IZULA fans have spoken I being one of them.now get them both
mind you I own two IZULA's and one BK11.

RAT PACK #91

Here is a side by side picture i took a few months ago, hope this helps.

I just received my Izula a couple of days ago, and it's very quickly growing on me. I don't own a Becker Necker yet, so I can't comment. However, Bear, that Tops looks very interesting - how do you like it?

I have the Izula & BK11 and I prefer the Izula over the BK11 ....nothing against the BK11 just not for me...

The Izula is a tough little knife with an amazing warranty, I don't know much about the Becker Necker besides the fact it rhymes, but I can tell how well the Izula rides in the pocket or on a strap. It is mostly a matter of personal taste though, some go for the blade size on the Becker and some go for the handle on the Izula. One guy even combined a Becker Necker blade with an Izula style handle.

I've never handled a Becker Necker, so I can't make a comparison, but I love my Izula. Plenty enough blade to get the job done, very stout and strong but slices well due to full flat grind, very comfy handle, and very versatile sheath. It also has a cool-looking ant on the blade.

The warranty is a big difference when desiding between the Necker and the Izula (as hwpaintballer indicates)

The Necker looks a bit uncomfy on the first finger (form looking at the design)

In my opinion, they are both great little blades. You can't really go wrong with either.

That being said, I am not really keen on the BK11 sheath...too big and clunky for a knife this size, and the blade does not fit will because it was designed to work with both the BK11 and the Mini-TacTool which is yet to be released. The izula sheath is better.

It is very cool. Light and Solid at the same time. I like the size of the handle too. Let me know if you need more pics and I will email you.
