Rat Knife Shop is full of knives...

An hour is ridiculous! These knives must be awesome...I have never heard of any product that people are willing to check a website every hour to purchase one. I guess most companies just raise the price, or supply until the demand line is crossed. I will get one of these 4" blades someday!!!!

I don't really have a problem with the first come, first serve policy, but I think it would be beneficial to SRKW as a company to get their brand name to a larger audience to have some kind of reservation list. It seems that the people who buy these knives are the people who are kind of crazy about them(not a bad thing) and have 5, 10+ knives which is fine, but it does limit their exposure to a small group of people....just some thoughts....
 
Welcome makey98. Pull up a chair and hang out with us all while we wait for the next offering. SRKW only puts out one offering at a time. That's hows they does it, and us simple folk have a gotten used to it being that way. We're expecting a big chopper next (I think?). Crack open a cold one, it could be a while (we'll have fun though, you'll see.)
 
Okay I guess I will just stop complaining for a while. I guess I need to view it as more of privilege/challenge to this knife versus a entitlement...

On a side note, does anyone know the answer to my question about why knives are sterile? Why does SRKW do this? Does it effect resale? Just curious?

IIRC, sterile blades are in case you drop or lose it, the enemy won't know whose it is; i.e. won't know who has been or still is in the area. I don't think it matters either way for resale.

If you check around, the matter of how these knives are offered has been the subject of much criticism similiar to your concerns. I think Busse & Co. have a brilliant thing going. You can't point to one company to even compare them to. A whole bunch of us sitting around counting days till we can get one of these. Brilliant. Plus, this method has created a situation where each and every model is known to increase in value. Show me another manufacturer where that happens. It doesn't. And we haven't even started talking about the quality yet. Search through the testing data on swampshack.com. It's unbelieveably cool.

I think most of them lasted under 5 minutes! :barf:
If you think you're frustrated now, hop on over to the Busse forum, and this place will seem like a big piece of apple pie a la mode when you return!
Forget Rat Race, busy times should be renamed the HOG race!
 
I scorred a one-in-stock HRLM today. :)

I gotsta feel it for myself. Picked it up while getting a Mojo in fear of them not doing a muddy mojo this weekend. We'll see. Then I'll have to figure out which one to keep and which to dump. :O
