RAT Pack stuff....

Getting a license to use a certain logo, badge, flash, etc. is a process. Some are easier than others. I wished we could use the SERE artwork but we don't have license to do so, so we don't. There are those out there who are bootlegging a lot of stuff such as FBI art, military art, etc., but we won't do it unless we have a paper that says we can ;)

As for the ATF, we knew this would be a flash point for some customers but the bottom line is we know a lot of their agents and know them to be great people. We also had a lot of their agents coming to us wanting a knife with the ATF badge engraved on it, but we refused to do it until we got permission to do so. I have found that a lot of people who work for the government don't agree with the policies. The bottom line is I refuse to paint with a broad brush since I know of local fireman, police and even paramedics that are not good people, but the profession, itself, is honorable. There are ATF agents doing some hard and honorable work in a lot of places around the world.

I completely agree with the officers of the ATF getting their own RAT. Not really a flashpoint for me. Heck there are folks out there who don't like the AF or whatever. You're doing this for the individual officers, not the policy makers who try to make them a gun grabbers. I say good on you.

but you know that if the powers that be in ATF had the ability; they would see that everyone of us would be forced to turn in our RAT knives, firearms and any other means of self-defence.

Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms should be a convenience store, not a government agency.

That said, everyone deserves cool knives, even them.

One serious question though -

Will the RC 10 photo show it being held by Bigfoot?

Izula scales??? Sweet!!! Between that and my RC-5 you guys have got me covered. Except for one of the new "survival kit" sheaths that jeff posted awhile ago...

be safe

Thanks for the update and for all of the time you put into this forum! I can't wait to see what is coming to raid my bank account!

Congratulations on the ATF licensing. I hope you get many more LE contracts soon.

Best regards, Les.

Once we have a final guesstimate on the first run of RP knives we will get a rough timeline from Shon. Not sure when these will come out since we are absolutely jammed right now trying to catch up on projects. I haven't been able to get on here much due to various projects, so here's the news.....

Shon should be getting a prototype of the RC-10 sometime next week and I will get a photo up.

We just picked up official licensing from ATF for knives bearing their logo/badge so that's a plus for us in the LE sector.

A forum member emailed asking if he could get RP patches made and we told him to go for it. We know nothing further in this and leaving it up to that member.

Should have info soon from Shon on timelines for Izula handles and RC-3 knives with sharpened back edge.

Working on bringing out a RAT machete in association with Imacasa in El Salvador (Thanks Joe!). It will have the Condor edge on it and maybe some Micarta handles by Rowen. No more news on this yet. Waiting on samples to be sent to Shon to figure out how we want to install handles.

We will be out of pocket here and there for the next couple of months. Out for a week for sure in Sept teaching a class then out for about 10 days in October in Peru, so if we happen to miss anything that needs our attention drop us an email.

Just want to say we really appreciate all of you. Whether you own a RAT knife or not, just want to say thanks for being on this forum and sharing part of your life with the rest of us here.

Onward!

Thanks for the update Jeff. And thanks to you, Mike, Shon, etc. for all the hard work to keep us happy and poor.

It's not a government contract. It's simply a license from the ATF that states we can reproduce the badge on our knives and sell to the agents and employees of the ATF.

Jeff,
I totally understand, there are good people in all LE depts.

It's just that any agency who's main drive seems to be making criminals out of honest citizens, instead of chasing known Bad Guys, doesn't get my support.

There's a difference between "justice" and "letter of the law", some at ATF have a hard time with making the distinction.

Jeff,

Thanks for all the updates. It’s really great to see you guys expanding as well as to hear about it strait from the source. It sounds like RC has a ton of stuff going on.

A while ago there was a tread that mentioned a small rat folder. I know that some concepts never materialize for one reason or another and even if they do it could take a very long time. Was the folder idea ever put through the paces?

Thanks Again

M.

Rat machete?!

As Marcel Ledbetter would say, "give me two'un of theyum" :)

_____Rat Pack #106_____

I believe there was one designed by RAT, and produced by Ontario. A google search shows a few places still selling them.

Thanks Diz, it comes right up....I guess now it's more a function of brand/group loyalty.. I hadn't been familiar with RAT knives till coming to this forum and have really enjoyed interacting with people here. That being said my inclination is to not get a knife from Ontario. Especially if these guys have any intention of making something similar .

No, I do believe they only actually charge and prosecute people who break the law. Letter of the law is what it is, if you don't like, complain to the politicians, not the LEOs.
