I got an Izula for a different reason. I have a nice little collection of little fixed blades. Emerson La Griffe. Simonich Bitteroot. Becker Necker. A bunch of others. I know what works for me.
I could see the Izula had a perfect handle shape (and confirmed that when I got it) and the materials and sheath also looked good. It is a minimalist, tough production knife. Heavy duty, classic (time-tested) blade shape, excellent skeletal handle, and the pinky-ring bird-and-trout butt on it is an almost unique feature. Some other similar designs would rather put a bottle opener there, which gouges my palm.
You can spread the joy by keeping a few in strategic gear bags and around the family. You know you've got a reliable tool that's actually big enough for most daily cutting tasks. Use one around the kitchen and see.
