In light of recent events/actions against RAT Cutlery by Ontario Knives http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=540826
I was trying to think what we can all do to help show our support to Jeff & Mike, and somebody had mentioned in the linked thread about wearing a t-shirt to Blade show. Then it hit me have merch such as t-shirts and mugs made up in support of RAT Cutlery. There is a web site called cafepress that produces this kind of stuff and lets you set-up a "virtual store" to sell the items out of, and the nice part is there is no start-up money needed you just give them your designs and they print them up as the orders come in and then ship'em out. I was thinking something like this would be good, simple subtle and to the point.

edited out of respect

the F.O.K. comes from member bnielsen.
100% of the profit would go to Jeff & Mike to help with their legal fees. If there would be interest in something like this I would be happy to do up some designs and get the ball rolling on this. Let me know what you guys think.

That sounds like a cool idea, but I say wait a little first. Mike and Jeff still hasn't gotten the letter from Ontario, and they also haven't officially talked to a lawyer. Mike and Jeff won't speak about this issue until after they discuss everything with a lawyer. Anything they say, can and will be used against them. RAT Cutlery knows we have their back 110%. Let's wait and see exactly how everything goes down.

On a motorcycle forum I'm on, someone said that Whoopee Goldberg said she wanted to run over motorcyclists who lane share. Like a bunch of hooligans, we had a 100 people email Whoope and the director of the show saying all this bad crap. Then someone actually dug up what she really said. 100 apology letters went out.

I'm just saying we don't know the whole situation yet. I'm sure Mike or Jeff will speak soon, lets not jeopardize anything for them.

I completely agree with you MRpink hastiness makes for bad decisions, but poor planning leads to hasty decisions. I plan on sitting on this until we get the official news from Jeff & Mike about whats going on, but if it is the WCS then I would want to be ready to get the ball rolling ASAP

When the time is right....I'll certainly participate.

Although I won't say much here. Mike and I both deeply appreciate the support and friendship that everyone has shown. We have received a HUGE amount of letters via email. We hope to meet you all at Blade, and if not there then some other venue. It feels really good to be associated with good, honest hard-working folks like all of you seem to be. In the end, it's not about money folks, it's about knowing that you went through each day doing the right thing and never intentionally hurting another man. A lot of us here seem to share that philosophy.

Best regards all,

Jeff

Jeff and Mike,

I've been out of touch for awhile, as you know, due to the car accident brain injuries ending up being worse than I thought.

However, now that I'm back, full-strength, and my old self again, I'm ready do help you guys in whatever way I can. I've never forgotten the friendship and generosity you guys have shown me.

Best,

Brian.

Brian, we appreciate it. Didn't really know what had happened to you but someone told us you had been in a bad accident. Glad to hear your back 100 percent and doing the things you enjoy. I tell ya, we all get so involved in our daily lives (that are sometimes filled with stress) that most of us don't realize that all it takes is a blink of an eye for everything we have known to be gone. I try to live every day like I may not be here tomorrow. Anyway, good to know your back and motivating ;)

Keep the faith, bro!

Onward!

I would definitely sport one of those shirts and I'll see you guys at the Blade Show.

I have to write a term paper about Ayn Rand for my Business Ethics class. :)

Should be an interesting term paper mixing Ayn Rand with Business Ethics since today's "business ethnics" seem to be light years removed from true free-market Capitalism, which I feel is the greatest thing in the world. Problem is nowadays folks have a tendency to feel that stealing intellectual property or taking from someone else, or forcing someone to work for them is called "Capitalism."

If there has ever been a study in the way a free market system works, then I think what has happened on the RAT cutlery forum in the last few days is a fine example of this. Never, ever, underestimate the power of the consumer. In a "Capitalistic" society the consumer sets the mark for just about everything.

A quote from the pure reason of Ayn Rand just guaranteed that I'll be purchasing a product from RAT cutlery. Belief in such ideals tells a person everything about the quality of a product.

Ayn Rand is high on my list, as is obvious. I have studied her work for years and live most of my life by it. If people would follow at least some of her philosophy we wouldn't have a lot of the problems we have in the world. Of course, she demands that people be responsible for themselves and that wouldn't cut it in today's individual and corporate welfare world.

I told a good friend of mine just the other day that he should read Atlas Shrugged. He said he had but from talking to him I think he missed the basic philosophy.

I too have read AS. it's a great book and lots of lesson to be learned.

Brett, I think I heard somewhere that it was rated second only to the Bible as the most influential book ever written. All I can say is it is VERY powerful even though it's not an easy read for the first 100 pages or so. Matter of fact, I'm about to start on some more Ayn Rand stuff.
