Was Rat Tail also made from D2 like the two Skinners?
 
Found it! Dog skinner and at only 118 bucks originally i wish i knew about swamp rat knives back then! Thats a great looking blade you got there.

WW, from what I have heard, the number of Dog Skinners was very limited back then, to the point of restriction of number a person could buy...

No, through hardened sr 101. The safari dog and safari skinner were first released as a collaboration with Mike W Thourot. Then re released in sr101(the coated ones). Rat tails were cord wrapped by Wally Hayes.

That would make an excellent knife to bring back one day!....maybe RCEB? At the secondary prices of over 300, ill never own 1. Personally id rather a Rodent 6 and a HRLM and could get them both at a price cheaper than the skinner. 165 shipped for an r6 from the swamp and the HRLM is discontinued but i see it sell from 135-185 for some with g10 scales. 2 quality blades > 1 quality blade from the same company, despite how pretty the 1 is... TO ME anyway.
