RAT Warranty

Not only do they make great knives, but Jeff and Mike are great guys!! There is absolutely no reason NOT to buy a RAT Cutlery knife!! I keep spreading the word. So far, both of my brother-in-laws have bought one.

Ever forward!

A few days ago I decided I was in the market for a new fixed blade, but couldn't decide which one. I lurked around on a few forums, and I started leaning toward a knife from RAT Cutlery Co. After reading this thread it was an easy decision to make, and I now have an Orange RC3 in the mail. Keep up the good work

Like I posted to another new RC user, we appreciate you trusting us with your knife purchases.

One week out and replacement is here!! Brand new RC3 no headaches at all:)

Thanks RAT Cutlery

You're welcome, Bob.

We appreciate you trusting in RAT Cutlery as your carry knife.

We truly appreciate it.

Hey, I just wanted to commend you on your warranty/support and the fact that you guys WANT images of your failed knives to be posted for the world to see. I am not sure if some of you saw that I got reamed by forum members for posting a picture of my damaged boker trance (thread here) instead of just contacting them for a replacement. Boker reps were very friendly and offered to fix my knife free of charge but I wasn't interested. Like I said, I love how you stand behind your product and do not treat people poorly because they choose to post a not-so flattering review.

I hope I can afford to buy one of your knives some day and look forward to owning one.

Thanks for the comments. Every manufacturer, bar none, will eventually have some type of knife failure. No need to hide it since it's just the way it is. We believe by posting it up, it gives the rest of the knife buying world more information on what a knife can or cannot do. RC realizes that our knives will break under certain circumstances and see no reason to hide it when it does happen. In our opinion, the users we have are some of the most intelligent folks in the world, so trying to hide anything from them would only hurt ourselves since they already realize that RC is not some super exotic knife that has magical powers. It's just another knife.

Oh yeah...that's why we have a $ 25,000.00 MSRP on it.

Wow.
I am impressed, to say the least.
This tells me several things:
1. Must not get many knives back, or this would not be economically feasable.
2. The knives HAVE to be able to stand up, if RAT feels they can cover potential damage like that.
3. I should probably get one.

I tend not to abuse my knives too hard, have never broken one. Because of this thread I am putting away my loved TAK-1 and ordering a real RAT, the RC-3, right now. I foresee a lot of my future knife purchases coming from RAT Cutlery. :)

Our warranty sucks, so here's what we will do:

No need to send the knife back with just a broken tip. We would like to see a photo and let us know how it happened. Feel free to post that publicly since we like for all of our customers to know what happened. Drop me an email with your shipping address and the type knife you had (plain edge, serrated, etc.) and we will get a new one headed your way.

As for the broken tip knife, keep it as a backup beater knife.

Sorry for your troubles but stuff happens ;)

Jeff

That almost brought a tear to my eye.

Very Awesome......

After reading this thread, RAT has my business. I have a RC-4, and RC-3 due any day, and the wife let me know that Santa UPS Dude is going to show up with a RC-6 plain and RC-6 combo.

We have very few replacements to make using our warranty. Like Jeff said most folks are intelligent enough to use a knife and not abuse it. Our quality is high and we produce a very reliable knife so replacements just don't happen often. But there will always be times when you find yourself in a bind and have to use a knife totally outside of the original design parameter for intended use. It is just the nature of living in the world and especially the outdoor world. We do the same with our own knives. We expect customers to be no different and run into the same situations we do from time to time. We do not want to have to raise hell or jump through hoops to try to get a replacement. We don't want you to either. In short we treat our customers the way we would want to ideally be treated in a perfect world. Well,...not exactly perfect or it would be indestructible:) So you reap the benefit of our own philosophy.

In the end with our knife you will be more confident knowing you own and are using a very reliable tool to start with, be more efficient at the work you have to do because you will not hesitate to use a tool you know you didn't have to get a bank loan for and more secure in knowing that absolutley you will always have this knife or it's replacement for life. Thank you for buying and using our knives, Mike

Well I am sure impressed. I thought Busse had a very good warranty, but RAT's tops even theirs. I guess I'll pony up for that SERE when it gets available.
