RAT Wilderness Ops Course--Review

Looks like the Peruvian course is gonna book out this time. We have a pretty good group going down. Gonna be laid out a bit different this time. ;)

My wife wants to go but NO WAY am I letting her down there with Jeff if I'm not around. Two kids is enough!!!

Oh, the party night in Tamshiyacu after the course is over with is worth the WHOLE trip! Just ask Joe Flowers. He almost lost a fiance and changed sexes on us after that night. We were really worried about him.

Yep. That sounds like Joe. lol

He seems like such a good-hearted Christian boy... until he's screaming obscenities at you because you actually want to sleep for a few hours out of the entire weekend of partying.

Caution, first its a ESEE Woodland ops course ( Ratas Mojadas), then you are off to Arizona with Ancient Pathways and from there to Utah with BOSS .
One of the skills I learned at the ESEE Woodlands ops course was to do more with less. You would not believe what a gear whore I have been. The Woodlands ops course is a gateway course, then you are hooked when you realize your skills have improved and your knowledge base was been expanded. The more between you ears the less you carry on you back.
I hope to repeat the Woodlands ops soon and maybe down to Peru.
Just watch out for the instructors that know about blow up sheep!

The adventure begins when the plans fail.

I was shooting for the Peru Jungle Training this year, but fell short on the funds, but, next year by gawd, i'm going, no doubt. Its been a dream of mine to hit some triple canopy, primary jungle, never been there before.

I did like the swamps of Louisiana and the Everglades, I actually have trips planned there next year too, gotta wait and see if they fall through like last year.:D

well, more with less :)

i know how to, and have, taken down trees with a mora, and done evil things with an F1, because they said "this is how you do it"... but honestly, after 30-45 minutes doing something with a knife that takes 60 seconds with an axe... i know i prefer my axe if i have it. same with a lot of other skills...

now, if i found myself alive, in the woods, the sole survivor of a plane wreck, oh yeah, i could make cordage, ass rape a wolverine with my teeth, and probably survive, but i wouldn't necessarily ENJOY it (i know the wolverine wouldn't). being alive is great, and i would fight, but i was born into a modern culture, and rather enjoy my creature comforts like daily food, water, bed, shelter...

the right gear, AND the right knowledge of when to use it, turns roughing it into easing it :)
