"It is an offense for any person, without lawful authority or good reason, to have with him in a public place, any article which has a blade or is sharply pointed except for a folding pocket-knife which has a cutting edge to its blade not exceeding 3 inches." [CJA 1988 section 139(1)]
As a side note: A folding knife is actually only considered a folding knife if it has no lock-mechanism..... a folding knife with lock is considered a fixed blade
Doesn't the UK have stauatory verbiage that allows fixed blade, locking, and longer knives when they are necessary tool for a sport or occupation? ie. You could probably justify carrying a RAT-3 if you were engaged in Bushcraft or hunting activities for example.
