Decided to take my brkt mini-northstar up to the north woods this last weekend, ended up back pacing twice on the trip searching for the knife that had fell from my sheath down into the tall grass. :(
kydex knickers on the way shortly. :)

That's a horrible feeling...the pacing the sweating, but the joy you get when you find it is almost like buying it in the first place

When i was buying it there were no "F bombs" being through about.
I had no issues until this weekend, the bugger fit nice and snugg in there. I guess maybe the leather is wearing in and lossing a bit of that same new grip it once had...idk.
I just remember Jeff's thread in regard to the BRKT bumblebee and the lack luster sheath; in which i had commented in about my mini northstars sheath working well, I just wanted to correct that opinion which has now changed, before anyone trusts the sheath and loses a nice knife.

I've been favorably impressed with RAT's sheaths. Especially the kydex that comes with the RC-4. That thing is dead-simple, and tough as nails. The Izula sheath is pretty sweet too.

talk to a leather guy ,I think there is a way to tighten up leather...not sure...or have a kydex made up,
THe RC4 has the best of all the RAT Blades factory sheathing...

Sharpshooter makes the sheaths for both Bark River and RAT, right? The sheaths for both companies should be very comparable. I don't think you're gonna find anybody who makes a production leather sheath better than Sharpshooter does. Well, JRE maybe. But they're pretty close.

True,I have a sharpshooter for my RC3 & RC4 and love 'em !! :D

I have no experience with the standard Rc-4 ‘s sheath, but the Izulas sheath I was not happy with due to the overly tight retention and over all ergonomics of that sheath in the Izula’s role as a neck carry knife for me. I had a kydex sheath made for the Izula and was quite pleased there on out.
I would like to get one of the new rc5-6 kydex sheaths to feel out on my rc-6

I have a ton of Sharpshooter sheaths, I've never had a problem with any of them. The sheath for my Bravo-1 in particular is exquisite. It's been beaten HARD, and just gets nicer the more it gets used.

They do make a ton of models though, a lot of them innovative and somewhat experimental. It would be surprising if a few duds didn't make it out the door.

I was quite enamored with the leathers aesthetics but in the end im pretty utilitarian about it, I could care less leather kydex what ever as long as I can trust the sheath to retain my blade.

The sheath is not made of lacking quality, just not for me and my carry style, i carry my sheath scout style so with that model sheath I am using the sheath at a disadvantage so to better suit my needs i am going with a kydex sheath. im always climbing and flipping around so, i just need that extra security of a retention strap or kydex.
