Hey guys, I'm relatively new to the knife world (started collecting knives around 9 months ago), I know there are some knife companies out there that really go above and beyond the normal warranty for their knives.

Emerson and Strider are two names that come to mind with their no questions asked life time warranties.

I'd like to throw this question to the more savvy and experienced knife guys on this forum. From personal experience, what companies are your favorites when it comes to warranties (and by association, customer support).

Thanks for your time.

I don't go by warranties.
Now the fact of the matter is that in over 50 years of carrying and using knives, I have never broken one. But if I did do something stupid and break a knife, I would expect to have to go buy a new one. I know that there are outfits who will replace no questions asked. That type of warranty raises the manufacturer's cost and he has to pass it along to the buyer. I don't see why I should pay for someone else's stupidity.

As far as buying a new knife and finding a defect, I have yet to find an outfit that won't make it right. Buck, Benchmade, Case, GEC, Spyderco, Kershaw, KaBar and others will all fix something that is actually defective.

So, "who has the best warranty" isn't even on the radar when it comes to buying a knife.

Busse, Swamprat, Scrapyard (all family knives). ESEE knives.

These are the ones that jump to my mind in production knives.

It's true that costs must be passed to the customer, but on the other hand, a solid warranty and good customer service means more customers have will have confidence in buying the product with resulting economy of scale (more production = lower cost per unit to produce). An example of this is Victorinox, who have a great warranty, fantastic customer service and very reasonable prices.

IMO there's a whole lot of win in this post. Warranty really isn't a deciding factor for purchases unless you're planning on doing something abusive.

Busse, Swamp Rat, Scrap Yard, and ESEE have the best warranties out there.

After that Becker has a great warranty and so does Kershaw and Spyderco.
