Rationale for outlawing or restricting knife types

I can't for the life of me understand why automatic knives are banned. They're not the fastest to deploy (waved knives and fixed blades are way quicker) and they're not any more dangerous than any other knife in the event that it's used as a weapon.

cause as Charlie Mike said, it's more about control than reducing crime or any other excuse that isn't supported by the facts. any chance the govt can take something like a tool that can be used as a weapon or for that matter rights away from law abiding citizens.......they are going to. it's that simple really....of course they exclude themselves and their buddies.
