My HRLM just came in the mail about a week ago, Lovin' It!

but i was ready to buy a Ratmandu if a setup i liked came up for sale.

what are your preferences?

Have both, can't go wrong. Take the first deal that comes along. (Hey that rhymes!!)

if i had to choose between the two, it would be the hrlm, by a hair.

thank god for reality where i can own both ;)

The Ratmandu is a classic shape. Still, both knives are really great.

(That sort of rhymes.)

I have both and would have a really hard time picking. I love the Ratmandu - really, a great blade! The HRLM? It's one that has a really special place in my heart. Perfect size grips on a small, stout blade with lots of belly. Sort of a Swamp Rat version of the Busse Badger Attack III.

Get both! If you have to choose only one? Hard but I might go with the HRLM by the slightest margin. Not due to any real flaw/characteristic but based on personal preference.

RaTmaNdu. WIth its full tang you can hammer with the pommel.

The HRLM has a full tang and actually has the same handle as the RMD up to the thumb ramp.

The HR 1st and 2nd gen have Res-C handles.

The HRLM has micarta with full tang.

-----------

I have to recommend both. They are both classic!

This is a wonderful example of how we work things in our household.
I "prefer" HR, and have one.
Ghostwolf "prefers" RMD, and has one.
So, we both actually have both.
Flawless logic.

Oh ya your right DWRW ! Guess it just boils down to blade style then. The howler being shorter of the two. Comparison pics would be nice.
