Rattlesnake den wild edibles hike with rattlesnake photos/video.

awesome sir. very good photo's. snakes blend in like crazy. every time i see one i remember just how awesome mother natures camouflage is lol (the army needs to take notes lol) if folks are allergic to poison ivy and you see the jewelweed look around as it usually grows close to it for some reason (maybe yin/yang type of balance).

those black raspberries are awesome right? i just happened to be walking around my back yard doing some clearing and found a huge stash of them just growing wild. i looked around some more and found a monstrous black berry patch. you guys are however a good bit ahead of us in season i guess as all my blackberries are still green and some are still flowers.

thanks for the pics sir.

Nice pictures. I don't know how comfortable I'd be hiking/camping in an area like that. I don't typically have a problem with snakes, but snakes that can kill me I might be a little uncomfortable around. That one you photographed really is a beautiful snake, though. As another member already stated, it's amazing how well they blend in with their environment...but sometimes I'm sure that can be a bad thing. I hope you checked your boots before you put them on in the morning :) Thanks for sharing!

Grunt soldier.

Black Raspberries are indeed awesome, few if any berries with the same structure are poisonous to the best of my knowledge. Raspberries leave behind a core on the bush, blackberries don’t.

That area, "Rattlesnake Den", has an unusually high concentration of Rattler's, and can be a bit dangerous in warm weather.

The fact is the original route of the AT went through this area,

...but, as traffic on the trail increased over the years, the trail was re-routed to avoid this area.

I avoid taking my dogs up there this time of year.

My friend’s boy scout troop also encountered a Timber across the newer trail aka AT. Last year seen this on the AT not all that far from the parking spot for this trip (maybe 1 mile or so). Somehow I have a feeling the population is on the increase in Connecticut and NY.

I am with you on not taking dogs into the area during warm weather. Anyone ever hike the Meshomasic State Forest?
