dont know if this has ever been brought up here, but i noticed today while cleaning my commander that if you hold the knife with the blade closed at the end of the knife where the lanyard hole is and shake it around I hear a slight rattle. I think it might be the stop pin movin back and forth. However, the lockup and everything is tight and fine. Is this something to be concerned with?

Chances are it's the stop pin. If everything's tightened down adequately I can't think of anything else that would rattle around. Might be that the stop pin is a little too short and isn't fitting in real snug. I don't think that's a problem unless it's so short it's going to fall out. It might affect lockup, but I seriously doubt it.

Hey, man up and deal with it! It's am Emerson for cryin' out loud. What are you a troll? Anti American? What's your problem? If you can't see the virtue in EKI though these minor details then maybe you're not worthy to own one, let alone post about one.

Let's not cry over crushed boxes, OK?:p

My favorite daily carry Commander rattled like crazy. It is the stop pin. Some commanders have a lttle bit deeper hole in the G-10, so you'll get a slight rattle. Did Emerson offer to replace the knife-yes. I wouldn't let them, because I love this particular Commander, and it functions perfectly. Derek did fix it at a show-I turned my back and it was fixed. The only problem is Derek was missing his chewing gum, so I have no idea what happened (and I really don't want to). In all honesty, if you place something between the stop and the G-10 it will stop rattling if you don't want to send it back. Structurally there is nothing wrong with it at all.

Loose stop pin?

Guys:

This post drew my curiousity. So I pulled out my Commander and started shakin'. I got some rattling, but it was due to the blade "slapping" the liner. Could this possibly be the origin of your problem  When you look through the spine of the handle, it appears that the blade rests on the stop pin when closed.

If it is a loose stop pin try this one.... I also had a rattling problem with another piece of equipment at work, a little bit of silicone caulking in the oversized hole (in this case the G-10),
re-assemble the item together and let dry. Voila problem eliminated :)
