Hello everyone. I'm new here and I thought I should ask you swamp rat experts if I should buy a Ratweiler or something like a Howling Rat.
 
RW is my favorite, but its more a chopper. A howling rat is smaller and more an allround user . But you never can go wrong with a RW! It chops, it cuts and it skins hogs. :D:D
 
WEll what do you plan to use the knife for?

The RW is a better chopper....
The HR is smaller and less carry weight.....


Give us info and we can give you a better answer or do the best thing and buy both!!!
 
I'll tell you that I think you're choosing between two of the best!! :thumbup:

Thanks for the welcome and thanks for answering, I know getting both would be a little expensive, but they look just so darn good:D I was getting my hopes up about the BR (I saw the pictures of the cutting of the cinder block) but then I noticed it was discontinued:( . But I figured the RW and HR have to be just as good:D The swamp rats seem like the best knives out there and I dont think I'll be dissapointed when I get them!

For the money the SW's are the best value for the price available.

Buy them both, you won't be sorry and they really aren't all that expensive in the grand scheme of things.
 
I ordered both.

I'd definitely get my order in on the HR lest it be taken out of the lineup in the future. However, a tac HR would be a good thing.

The RW is the flagship knife of Swamp Rat. Order it too.
 
Thanks Guyon for the heads up on the HR, I was planning on getting my order in very soon for both the HR and RW anyway:D Its a good investment in my opinion. Thanks to everyone else too.
 
I know that there is up to a 12 week (or more) wait time for the RW's, but I assume they are done in batches. So does anyone know when the last batch was done and therefore when the next batch is due (approximately, but also realistically) to be shipped? Also, what color combination will it be? The black blade is obvious but the handle kind of looks green/blue (on the website)????

Hi Steel Stump,

The last batch was shipped out a month ago, I think. Unfortunately, estimating the next batch release is a lot more difficult to do as it's been a bit erratic. Lots of factors go into this. I do hope that they are shipping soon.

The handle is black canvas micarta which actually is gray with black layered. The handle will darken with use and will become very dark, almost black.

Hope this helps some. It is a fantastic knife, you will not regret it. :thumbup:
