Agreed! At first I thought it was a sterile Tanker Gray but now I am thinking that something has been done to get that look.

What can you share with us young Rats ? :)

I bought a ratweiler not long after the swamp was born, took it over the pond, brought it back and stupidly sold it. Tears later I found a gen two and bought it at a nearly 80% mark up from the original. I stripped it, over died the handle slabs black and polished them. I cold blued it but not to the perfection shown here. The hamon does not show through, but then again I did not polish the blade after stripping. My rat appeared to have "stretch" marks on the blade. Any one else see these stretch marks on their rats?

Ohhhhhhh! Look at that sexy hamon line!!!
Looks like a patina finish as well maybe?
Tell me the secrets to that sexy blade, please.

Believe it or not, that blade looked like that after I stripped it. Don't know if it had to do with the coating or the stripper or what, but I just stripped it and cleaned it. That's it. That knife goes with me just about everywhere, and it holds an edge like nobody's business.

although i gotta say the desret jack is like a mini ratwieler,,just awesome!!

Well, I was going to pursue a chopweiler, but after viewing this thread I do believe I'll hold out for the Ratweiler. Wait a minute, I'm just going to have to get both. I guess Swamp Rat is like a box of chocolates, you can't just have one!

If you mean those big, ugly zig-zag lines on the flat of the blade, yes, those are common on stripped CG knives.

I asked Eric about those lines at Blade, cause I had them on my waki after I stripped it, he said that's how the steel comes

I also have little embedded lines that look like some kind of hammer marks on one side of the blade. It is a cg model, had no logo on it. I love the ratweiler, but this one just doesn't have a very finished look compared to my first gen model. Still a great blade that I don't mind beating the ugly off of.

Hey bro, did you buy your weiler like that or send it back for a custom coating? I have never seen a black canvas/sage weiler before that is sick looking

He told me earlier that was a custom coating. I believe it was originally black on black. Great color combo.

I bought it like that off the x, but yeah, it was a recoat by the shop , sweet blade, I don't know what it is about this rat, but it feels different from the 3 others that I had ( 2 old school ones and 1 second gen)
