I recently got a new bow. Like Busse knives I bought the best I could, because it had to last. I wouldn't be getting another new bow any time soon. I went with a Hoyt Carbon Element. The riser is made up of twisted carbon tubes. The only bow of its kind in the archery world. Of course I had to go with stealth all black.

Along with it is my new boss jack. It started life as a CG black with pumpkin slabs. I stripped it, and my bro polished it to a mirror finish. We took the slabs off to continue polishing. I love the pumkin slabs but i'm also going to attempt to get some G10 and make my own slabs. Stainless torx screws will hold them on. Enjoy!

That's a really nice bow. I don't think I could bring myself to spend that much on a bow. Do you hunt or compete?

I bow hunt. I've gotten the job done with much cheaper bows, but like I said, this will be the last bow I buy for probably a very long time. I aimed high. Its kinda like my $900 nmfbmle... totally worth every penny.

That is a sweet bow. Bows are getting crazy. I have a Mathews Switchback that is still going strong. I think I am going to make the switch to traditional though and get a recurve from South Cox of Stalker Bows.

Matthews makes an awesome bow. I still have my Z Max and the only thing I would trade it in for is another Matthews. I haven't even picked up one of the new ones but I'm sure they are awesome. That Hoyt looks like something the Predator would use!!

Sweet infi-/carbon set

I have never held a high end bow - so please excuse my silly question... Isn't this thing awfully heavy? It looks like it weights a ton

carbon fiber is very light

I think that bow weighs less than 4 lbs.

Correct. Bare bow weighs 3.6 pounds. Super light. Unfortunately the added accessories pack on the weight. Its still only about 5.5lbs though with the sight/arrow rest/stabilizer on it. Probably lighter than my NMFBMLE :D

If I were to take up shooting with wheels, it would be Hoyt for me as well.

Any urge to leave the handles off?

I thought about it, but its not very comfortable. I sit at night watching (insert cop show here) on TV, fondling the gripless tang. Its too tall and thin. I considered para cord even, but at that point I might as well just add slabs. It is pretty cool from a minimalist stand point.

I hear ya. Nice set for hunting. Are you going blaze orange g-10 for your rehandled BOSS Jack?

It was already black and orange, so I might go with something completely different. Maybe black and tan, black and gray... I like the contrasting colors. I'm keeping the pumpkin though so I can switch it out when ever I want. The torx make that possible. Maybe even All black with red liners... something like that.

Interesting. I hope I have the opportunity to handle a bow like this someday. It might be more thrilling to me than firearms.
