This is a Gen 1 Mk 4-B composite handled hawk (pictured, left with Coyote paracord wrap.).
The composite handle is permanently hafted to the bit-aligned Cold Steel Trail Hawk head which is made of 1055 carbon steel. We love this head for its weight and balance, and its exceptional durability.
The paracord wrap at the neck is for overstrike protection, but the ergonomic handle is tougher and lighter than wood.
The Lanyard is adjustable to be out of the way, or at hand when you need it.
Paracord butt wrap assists the micarta veneer micro-pebble finish and ergonomic handle cross-section with hand.
One of the added benefits to our endo/exo-skeletal handle is that it has a .50 caliber polycarbonate tube that travels the length of your hawk, which you can use as a bellows for your fire, as a storage place for your possibles, and much more. The hawks ship with chloroprene end plugs and stainless hardware to give a storage capability for all your field essentials.
