I have in ,some knives by Master Smith Ray Kirk.
Ray calls these his NDN style. I had not a clue as to what " NDN" was,here's what Ray says ,
"
Since I am Indian and live close to tribal headquarters, there are a lot of arts and crafts made by our members. The knives mostly are factory blades that have been rehandled with deer antler and have a bit of carving on them. Or they are very course replicas of a good knife. I thought they needed an upgrade and since my brother mentioned that it was hard to tell if a knife was forged or not if it was shiney, I went with the tool black and regrind. I liked it and put NDN as a tie to Indian. Basically, it is for the style of blade that is forged and the flats left with hammer finish and then tool black and regrind. The tool black also helps to keep the 52100 from oxidizing (rusting) as bad. "
