Ray Kirk MS Scagel folder

Muddy, that mammoth looks great on this model from Ray. Here is one in California buckeye burl. Ray's Scagel reproduction is an excellent knife at an excellent price from an excellent maker.

Thomason, very nice, I'd seen yours as well while searching the site. I agree, Ray's folder is one of the best values in my opinion for an MS blade, up there with Foster's Blue Collar hunter & Caffrey's EBK.

Ray always has some of the nicest buckeye burl . He also has a good stash of mammothivory to work with so you know his are always something special. Mike

I don't have any pictures of scagels, but I've had the privilege to handle and play with Paul Basch's two blade scagel and I've seen the one in the ABS museum in Little Rock. I've also spent time drooling in front of the Randall Scagel collection in Orlando. Good thing the Randall's have an alarm system and physical security :) The functional designs, the simple materials, combined to make a knife that works, feels good and looks good are what I like about the man's work.

Dang Muddy, you ARE having a good week! That is probably one of the sweetest Scagel repros I've seen. I almost pulled the trigger on a stag one last fall, it was a commercial one, can't remember who is putting them out. Glad I didn't, because the Kirk one is not too much more cost-wise, and the blade steel is better too. Gotta put one of these on my list of must-haves.
