I resisted one of these for as long as I could but at the KGA Show yesterday in Oklahoma City I could resist no longer. Blade is forged 52100.

Nice pick up on that one 4 ever3.

You've got a winner there for sure. Ray's work is top notch, as is his forged 52100. He is also a terrific guy. I recently acquired one of his small Pocket Medicine Blades, and whoa Nellie...talk about sharp!

Great pickup. Ray's not only a talented master smith, but one of the nicest guys you'd ever want to be around. That knife will serve you well. Gus and I have a couple in stag as well.

oh man, I ALMOST picked that one up yesterday. Glad I didn't. Looks like it found a nice home.

Enjoy!

Brett

Congratulations.
I just touched up the edge on mine today. One heck of a cutter from one heck of a great guy is hard to beat.

well, I couldn't resist: I went back this afternoon and picked up another of ray's scagels with san mai blade and cedar handle. An absolutely beautiful knife from a great guy!

Brett

Watch it Brett one of the knifemakers at the showpicked up his special order elephant ivory damascus back pocket medicine blades and we had to hunt him up a bandaide. You tell people they are sharp and they just have to find out for themselves!!!!!!!!!!! Mike

4ever3,

Drop dead gorgeous, I just asked you in another thread who the maker was because of its authentic aesthetics!.

Best to ya both,

Anthony

I have it in my hand right now....I'll take some pics and show her off soon....:)

Brett

Thanks for all of the compliments !

Yes Ray is one of a kind. My parents went to school with him but I have just met him in the last year or so and he is as stand up as they come.

I am going to a shop tour at his place next month and will take pics and post them if anyone is interested.

Lets see it Brett !

4ever3,

Enjoy that visit. If you would tell him Elliott and Gus say hello and send their best.

Take care,
Brett

hi all,

here's a quick pic of my new kirk scagel. It's a beauty at 1.6 oz, 2.25 inch blade, 5.75 OAL.

I love this little one!

Hey Brett, that is a little beauty ! I looked at the small ones for a long time but decided to go with the larger one, but I may just have to get the small one too.

I'm just north of Tulsa but I will be sure to find you and introduce myself while we're there

So yours is a small model, Brett? I did not ever know Ray made two sizes. Better run add one of those to my wish list. I like it a lot.

I know I am pushing things a bit, but this one gets about as traditional as it gets. (and since we are on a Ray thread) and there is a little history involved and it is my "other area of knife collecting" since you never know when ya might have to dag someone.) ;)

This is Ray's quillion dagger that he made for his M.S. test.

I asked Ray if I could commission it in 2000 (before he got his J.S. stamp) and he went for his M.S. in 2005. I have brother Blues to thank for introducing us.

As you can see, he is a man of many talents.
