Ray Laconico knives

Ray, would you mind posting pictures of some of your patterns. I'd love to see a bunch side by side (and then order one or two). Thanks.

Campbell, Ray has a website where you can see his knives. Click on his name and you should find a link to it.

I've also got a couple of Ray's knives I custom ordered, and can't apeak highly enough of them. Ray is an excellent craftsman, and makes beautiful, functional, and very well made knives.

As for us being too kind: Great work and service deserves praise.

I picked up one of Rays 4" utility knives about a month or so ago. I have been eyeing his work on the forum for some time. They are so clean and of such high quality. I had been trying to buy one off of the forum, but they do not last long!!! Ray had two up, and I took a chance - the second one was still for sale and I was lucky enough to purchase it. Ray was such a pleasure to deal with - I look forward to more purchases with him. My little 4" utility was much more than I expected and has become my edc in the field and on my woodland treks.

tigerdog-LOVE the knife. I have a soft spot for hollow handle knives as well.

Ray- I don't as yet have the pleasure of owning one of your fine knives but they are certainly a pleasure to look at.

Here's one of my Laconico Knives. These are pics right after i got it and made couple sheaths for it. The finish isn't quite as pretty after a couple years use, but it' one of my favorites.:

It's got a matching little brother that I don't have any pics of.

Here's one Ray made for me. I sent him the Ziricote scales and he crafted them and the blade into a beautiful (and extremely functional) knife.

Are his knives sole authorship or is the blade cutting and heat treat outsourced?

Clean lines is right. I have visited him several times, and each time I was able to handle a few different knives, of a wide variety of designs. And they all had one thing in common - clean lines, outstanding grinds. I had him make this one to my specifications:

I have seen alot of Rays work and they all appeal to me but THAT knife is sexy. Its exactly the style I would want. I must say the one piece survival knife suprised me as its the first time I have seen that one and I like it alot. Ray does make a really clean looking knife and from all accounts they perform very well.

I have this one-

Got it used from a forum member for my wife

She loves it!!!(As do I)

Excellent ERGONOMICS AND Laser Like sharpness.

VERY VERY WELL MADE KNIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm almost 100% sure he cuts out and heat treats his own blades.

My knife posted above was smaller than most of his other knives with the same basic shape and Ray was able to scale down his design without a problem.

In an older thread with pics of his shop (and pics of black widows he keeps in jars!) it shows his grinder and heat treating oven. Do a search and see what you come up with.

Thanks guys for the nice words about my knives. Yes, my knives are all made from scratch by myself in my humble little garage shop.

Thank you Ray, I have a new found interest in your knives which I have always admired.

One of the nicest I've seen from Ray. love the lines.

I have a collection of Rays knives, all very well made and razor sharp. His convex edges are some of the best Ive seen. Ive always kept an order with him and always will.

My collection has grown since this thread was started. And I have some ideas for another fixed blade and at least one folder now that Ray has been making folders for sale. It's amazing to see what he can make in his "humble little shop"; it really is his garage.

I am loving the look of Ray's knives! What kind of steel are they and how much are they? I would love a Fallkniven F1 style knife made by him with a nice wood handle.

Rohnan-

The knives I've seen Ray make on this forum have been O-1 and 1095.

Throw him an email or a PM and ask. His prices for what you're looking for should be under $200 depending on details, sheath and size.

Okay, the OP got his answer; so now lets turn this into a Laconico knife pron thread.

I really miss this beauty.
