• Happy Thanksgiving to all of you! I hope that you all have something to be grateful for this year and for many years to come
  • America has reached 250 years, and I am grateful to be here, in the best country in the world. Thank every one of you who helps make this country a better place, those who have gone before and risked it all, and those who've paid the ultimate price to make the United States what we are today.

Happy Birthday America! Let Freedom Ring for all time!

Ray Mears

Love Ray mears.. Great books good vids theres an interesting deadfall he makes in a youttube video entitled squirrel trap and hobo fishing.

I wonder why he uses a diffirent technique on the field stone.

This video comes as an extra on one of his DVDs. I have it on my home computer in better quality I can upload it if anyone here is interested.

I like that video a lot.

Especially the scenery where the hobo fishing takes plate, peace and quiet, simply beautiful.

Ray is excellent! I love all his t.v stuff.
He has a new series called "Ray Mears goes Walkabout" where he travels in Australia.
So far I've only watched the episode where he meets up with Les Hiddens (Bushtuckerman).

I like Ray Mears more than the others. I especially like the part where he catches a salmon and he fillets it with his fingers. I might have to try that when the next time I get a whole fish from the market.

what channel is he on? and time?

I went to watch all his episodes on vehotv. You have to download the player and the use the search feature to find all ray mears stuff. I forget which episode, but I think it the one in alaska that he does the filleting of a salmon.

I like Ray Mears, too. :o He combines great knowledge with good padegogical skills, so he doesn't sound like a teacher or a 'crazy' survivalist. Because of this, he is also able to be heard in the mainstream, but is not a part of it (e.g. he goes hunting - here in Germany many outdoor freaks are proud, anti-hunting vegetarians).
I'm reading his book 'Essential Bushcraft' at the moment.
