I hope RokJok won't mind me taking the words from his for sale post:
An amazing and rare piece. The shear steel was something Ray had a single piece of and when it was gone, that was all there was -- No more. The steel figure that you see in the pictures is the grain of the shear steel. It is not damascus layers, not patina or other surface coloring, nothing but the soul of the steel shining through.
Steel: shear steel, reportedly fished out of the Willamette River
Blade: 3-15/16" from tip to bolster
OAL: 8"
Handle: cocobolo, let's call it a semi-Persian shape
Fittings: wrought iron
Sheath: heavy-duty leather pouch sheath
It had been sharpened and a little scratched so I sent it back to Ray who refinished it and put his own edge back on it.
I am selling because in the discussions with Ray I ended up getting one of his bigger knives and I can't afford to keep this now.
Asking $395 $380 $370 $350 including shipping and paypal
