Razor-inspired knife with display box.

What a clean set both knife and box over the top. It is safe to say that the box is unlike any I have ever seen before. nice job

A treat for sore eyes. Love all the detail and fine craftsmanship. Thanks for sharing your passion with us.

Thank you all for your kind and inspirational words, allways very appreciated!

In on the first page. :)

Mind-blowing designs and rich materials. Outstanding shapes, and the display box presentation REALLY sends this project into the stratosphere.

Impressive images, too. No one rectangle would be able to impart this sense of workmanship here--so we have many. :)

Thanks. Someone is going to be thrilled. ;)

Thank you so much Coop! This is something I would love for you to work your magic on! Who knows, maybe it ends up under your camera one of these days. :)
I spend too much time taking pictures and I find it especially hard to get it all showing in just one (or two) shots...
So your comments regarding the photos are greatly appreciated!

holy crap Magnus:eek:
you did those round bit with a Dremel?
You are one amazing talent my friend:)

Thank you my friend! :)
Yes I did use a dremel for all "round" things. I just strapped it down vertically and had a solid piece of wood to rest my hands on for support for when filing/ sanding the shape.

Your words means that little bit extra Bruce, since your work truly inspires me to try new things and to venture into more details like this! So thank you very much!

Magnus, i think your work may be inspiring a lot more people to try new things now. That whole package is just outstanding. Thanks for sharing

Magnus, this package is absolutely amazing. With the time-consuming detail you've put into it, you must have had someone in mind to receive this special gift, perhaps for the coming holiday.

Yes, just a fantastic work of art & craft.

Best,

Bob

I went back to take another look! This project had to consume many hours, days and weeks of thought on the concept alone, then the talent involved to make it happen! You are the man!

Thank you! I would be honoured if I inspire others!

Thank you very much Bob!
I have had this idea for a while now so eventually it needed to be made! I feel that I need to get ideas out of my system for me to see if it comes out as I imagine. I allways learn new things with each new project and that is part of why I love this craft so much.

There is someone who has expressed interest in this project since when it was only a sketch...
The future will tell where it ends up!

Thanks Steve! It did indeed take a long time.
So much so that I don't really want to know exactly how long...
But it is not the first time it has happened, and I am quite certain it isn't the last :D

Thank you all again for your kind words!

as usual, another great looking package of knife (well, razor) and support packaging -- this time a box which is quite amazing. Always look forward to your creations.

Big surprise, taking the "anti" viewpoint.:)

The packaging is GREAT! you are a leatherworker and metal designer par excellence, Magnus.

The knife design is extremely weak, imo.

It is statement and style over design and substance. I don't get it. The handle is so overwhelmingly long and wide that the blade appears as an afterthought.....it looks more like a ritualistic scalpel or something used to chop up "powdery drugs" than a razor.

I always go back to Larry Fuegen.....the knife has to be well designed and functional before adding adornment, and by that metric....this one does not "make the cut".

STeven Garsson

Thank you for your comments STeven, I truly appreciate your opinion!
Your opinions are allways quite refreshing and I allways try to learn from them as I do all others! This is part of why this is such a great forum!

I see this knife as much(or more) a functional desk ornament than a "razor". To be honest it is, just like the title says, only inspired by a razor and not an actual razor in its true form.

I did make a wooden "prototype handle" to make sure it would not feel awkward in the hand. The "overly long" handle you mention might look that way due to my lacking photography skills not showing the proportions correctly.
The handle is 120mm(4.724"), overall is 190(7.48").
The size of the blade obviously does not make this a camping knife, as my intentions of it's potential use was far more delicate.

Here is another shot of it, "in hand" (I have small hands):

I do truly respect Larry Fuegens saying, and I mostly live and make by similar guidelines.
But, at certain times, I feel fortunate to be free of its limitations where my creativity would otherwise be quite limited.

Thank you again Steven for your comments!

The craftsmanship is truly special. I can understand this either appealing to someone or not but it cannot be said that it is lacking in creativity or in demonstrating an astounding ability.
Beautiful work. It's inspiring in it's radical difference.

Nicest box I've seen all day! Are the 'star' cutouts of the brass liner uneven or is it just the picture? sorry to ask, it just bugs me
