Razor Trapper

What is the intended use of the razor on a razor trapper? I find it hard to believe anyone would want to shave with it.

I use mine for chopping veggies most of the time ;-) And the clip blade for boning chicken.

It's a one hand opener for people with one arm, or finger-dexterity issues. I believe it became popular right after the Civil War, because of the number of mutilated veterans. I'm not sure, but I believe I read that John Wesley Powell may have carried one.

I have even heard people call them "One Armed Man"
