Rc-10

Finally finished out the RC-10 design. Mike is making a proto model now to verify handle, etc. Shon will have the CAD drawing this week. From there it goes into the manufacturing phase. First part of that is getting an actual production prototype made and verified, then we will go with a full production run. Will probably start off with 500 pieces. The knife will come with a Kydex sheath.

Timeframe: Will not guarantee ANY timeframe on this. I'm guessing it will probably be shipping around November but that could change. We are NOT accepting any pre-orders from dealers on this project.

We do not have any answers to any specifics on this knife. We will post up a drawing / photo once a production prototype has been approved.

A lot of the posters obviously missed the very first post in this thread, so I copied it here again....

Uhm ... November what year?

No seriously, for having no timeframe November seems quite close.
Guess I'll be running around in old rags by January, cause my x-mas money went into some steel. :D

I have no idea what you are talking about.

Just had a random thought, but is there any way to get the broken knives people send in for replacement? Would love to get one, could have some fun making something out of it. Hell, I'd buy a whole bunch of random parts if I could.

It will be hard to justify when I can get a 1095 Ontario machete for dirt cheap, but I'll admit I'm excited to see how it turns out!

I gotcha on that one. Though the RC10 will be a beast. A machete may come close, but it serves a different purpose. You can chop wood all day with an RC10 or similar knife without worry. A machete is more delicate. Can only imagine what the edge of a machete would look like if you hit a knot in a log full force. Increased cost/weight, but the piece of mind you get is great.

Without pictures, I am going to say the RC-10 is horrible. It's probably in hiding because is it is unratworthyishness.
Thats a scientific term by the way ;)

How can anyone know what an RC-10 will chop vs. a machete? or how delicate it won't be? or what different purpose it will serve without actually seeing some specs/pictures?

I can theorize with the best of them, but those are some pretty specific claims sight-unseen.

Love my RC-4, RC-6, Izula and even my RTAK II, but I think it's important not to prejudge a design.

True. I am making the assumption that the RC10 is similar in design to the RC6/RC4/etc. That is, similar thickness and blade shape. If so, the above should hold true. The knife could be radically different, so who knows. Time will tell.

Yeah but if the RC10 doesn't have the same quality as the other RC knives they may as well not make it. So it's safe to ASSume it's going to be an awesome chopper or whatever. It's either going to be a RC6 on roids or RC5 on roids?? Just a guess anyway :)
