I am interested in both of these knives by RAT. Would like some information on which would be better for an EDC knife. Dont mind spending up to $150.00 on a knife that's worth it. Also is the RC-3 different from the RC-3MIL other than the serrated edge?

This may be a repeat post but wanted some fresh input. Thanks in advance.

yup another vote for hest. of course i already have lots of blades that sorta parallel the rc3/4/5/6. and a pal gave me an izula. so the hest was the natural selection...

i had a hest for a while, didnt get to use it alot but i mean it seemed like it would be really handy. room to store stuff in the handle, the pry bar, spots to lash it to a stick to make a spear.

Yes i would just get them both. much better idea than trying to pick JUST ONE:) But if you must pick only one i would get the H E S T.

i got both and both are just great knives.

The RC3 is very performance oriented. Thin blade, great ergos.

The HEST is more an all terrain little FB with a lot of unique features. Thicker hardcore companion.

it's a matter of personnal preferences. Both are top designs made by clever people.

Try to handle both. Do your own opinion. Don't wait for anyone to decide for you.
No one can decide for you unless you want to be a slave of the Rat Pack ! ;-)

I stopped edc'ing my RC-3 a while ago and switched to the Izula. Today I am ordering a HEST because I want something a little bigger. I will try carrying that for a while.

Thanks for the info so far. Will try get me hands on both before buying. If not guess its both for me.

The RC3 MIL differs from the regular RC3 in that it has canvas micarta handle scales instead of linen micarta like the regular RC3 has. It also has a sharpened glass breaker pommel and the word MIL engraved on the blade. It comes with more sheath carry options as well. Its only available in 1 color though. Both knives come available in plain or combo edge.

Dont get me wrong I dont mean to put down the rc3mil. In my opinion I would go with the plain blade rc3 over the rc3mil. Its all just a matter of opinion anyway, we all have our own opinions on which RATs are better thatn others but I think we can all agree that all RATs are top performance knives.
