rc-4 or bravo-1...?

I have a Bravo-1 and the blade is not 1/4 inch thick.

It is just over 3/16th inch thick.

Both are good Knives.

I just re-read some of the posts above.

If you do not want a smooth handle on the Bravo-1 you just order it with a matte finished handle.

Mine has a matte finished handle.

I am fairly sure that any bark river knife can be ordered with a matte finished handle in any of their micarta or G-10 offerings.

You are right. Just let the dealer know and they'll get you hooked up. Derrick from knivesshipfree.com has been great and very easy to communicate with.

Here's a couple of pics of the RC-4. A great knife for the money and extremely versatile sheath. I thought the Bravo was about 50% higher in cost, but an excellent knife and certainly more aesthetically pleasing. Curiously, I just went to verify the above cost and couldn't find any Bravo's in stock in the two Bark River on-line shops I frequently view. I was a bit hesitant on the RC-4's coated blade at first, but it has now grown on me.

I have both and I prefer the Bravo-1 just a little more. But then it costs just a little more. I have big hands and the Bravo handle fits me better. Both are fine knives.
