And here is my trusty sidekick, Scrappy:

My dog, Scrappy is a Rat Terrier. She is about twelve pounds. We call her "chunky monkey" because she is a few pounds overweight!! Poor thing was so cold that morning she was shivering and I ended up carrying her in my jacket until the sun came up and warmed things up a little bit. I got a few strange looks from the other hikers as we walked by and a dogs head was sticking out of my coat!! In the pics you can tell that everything is still covered in frost. It was a great morning hike and had some really beautiful scenery.

My ex-wife has a Jack Rat (Jack Russel Rat Terrier mix). Smartest damn dog I have ever had and I use to raise and train Shepherds.

I have Two Rat Terriers actually. Scrappy and Scooby!! ( insert joke here) Scrappy is the outside dog who loves to go on hikes and hates to come inside. And Scooby is the inside dog who only wants to go outside to use the bathroom and then immediatley wants back inside.

They are both very smart. Almost too smart for their own good. And they are fast. They can chase a squirell down in no time flat.

They may be small but they are excellent watch dogs. If anyone comes in the yard or even walks down the street they go crazy, barking to let us know someone is there.

In my younger years we always had big dogs. These are the first two small dogs I have ever had. Small dogs are alot easier to care for and they make alot smaller poopie piles to clean up!!
