Sadly, I've given up on .177 air rifles. I had some large grackles in my back yard over spring break and shot one from about 15 yards away with a 630fps break barrel pellet rifle (not a 100fps model unfortunately) and hit him broadside and he jumped up and flew away (he didnt get much farther than over the fence though). That same day I took the same shot with a .22cal co2 powered 550fps air gun... grazed the first one, and flattened the one behind him (there was a cluster of birds on the ground when i took the shot). the grazed one couldnt move, and the one who took full force was flat out dead. I put the other out of its misery as well. After that, I think 22cal is the only way to go when it comes to airguns.
