RC-5 divot trick

I got this idea a few weeks ago and thought I'd post it. I always carry a fire kit so I don't anticipate giving the fire bow divot much use. I also found it to be a bit of a distraction during regular use. I decided to fill it and settled on paraffin wax. The wax stays put nicely during use and has some added advantages. When you make a fire it can easily be scraped out and added to your tinder as fuel. If you do use a fire drill, add most of the wax scrapings to your tinder and the residual wax in the divot acts as a lubricant to reduce friction burns to the micarta.
This knife has become a favorite so it's getting a lot of use. I'm always looking for ways to customize tools to better suite my needs and came up with this.
That's it, no big deal, just an idea to implement or toss out.

Cool idea or another neat trick , if you own the RC6 you could swap out the scales and no divot to bother you...

I love the green canvas micarta panels with the RAT logo that are on the RC-5. The divots not an issue any more any way. Nice a smooth with some handy paraffin storage.

you could even pack it with cotton first, then you've got a last ditch "tinder-quick" type starter.
