No repeated use Thats probably the 20th time I used that divot.

It looks stained, but you're not going to hurt the micarta. Micarta is harder than the steel

As satisfying the traditional methods are, I think ferro rods are the way to go. Thanks for sharing!

I think everyone should learn how to make a complete fire by friction (from a coal to burning full rounds of wood). It gives you a great appreciation for a tool like a ferro rod, match, or lighter. It also helps you learn how to build a proper tinder lay. There's no skipping steps when all you have is a smoldering coal to start with....
