RC-6-sheath.jpg

This is the molded Blade-tech sheath that will ship with the RC-6. Fully ambidextrous with the RAT Cutlery logo molded into both sides. The RC-6 is being offered in two configurations:

1) Knife, molded sheath, MOLLE locks
2) Knife, molded sheath, MOLLE back, MOLLE locks

As you can see there are plenty of perimeter holes so if you don't want to use an attachment device you can lash the sheath (to a belt, pack, whatever). Knife is a slight friction fit in the sheath. If you want it tighter you can put two screws through the top two rivet holes and tighten down. The sheath will also fit two holes of the Blade-tech TekLok, so the user has another option. Initially the sheath will only come in Coyote Brown. In the future we will offer other colors and sell individual sheaths.

That is Freaking Sweet ! I love the logo on the sheath and love the ambidextrous option being I am a lefty ! Great job Guys !!!!

Tony, the sheath is exactly the same on one side as it is the other so it's fully ambi. This is really a first class molded sheath. We spent a lot of money to get the mold made but the reason we started RAT Cutlery was to be able to do this type of a project and offer upgrades to our customers. This is one heck of an upgrade from the old RAT-7 sheath.

Man ,I love it...I think it was well worth the time and effort put forth by You & Mike and the Rest of Rat Cutlery..I can not wait to break one in...I can see lashing a utility pouch on it to store some gear,SAK & fire steel and odds & ends...Great job !

Looks like a very well done sheath. I'm not a lefty, but I often carry my knife on the left and save the right for other gear;), so the ambi option is a definite plus. I'll be one of those anxiously awaiting the other color options though. Black would be fine and foliage even better.

We will eventually get around to Foliage Green, Desert Tan and Black color options but it will be down the road a ways.

Uh...we're having utility pouches built to fit the hole pattern on the sheath. Not sure when these will be available but we saw the first prototypes of our pouch design at SHOT show.

We're trying to design our sheath systems as modular units that you can add to or take away as the mission requires. The pouch idea for the 6 has been around as long as the RC-6 design has. ;) When it comes to sheathing, the only change in our thinking will be the RC-5 SERE knife that we're just starting to get serious about that the SERE guys asked us to build. We're probably going with a SpecOps brand sheath for that particular knife.

The Spec-ops brand makes a excellent sheath,I just hate they discontinued the Survival model and raised the $ on the Combat...

Will the RC3 mount to the RC6 sheath provide we use longer mounting hardware for those who like to make a Combo package or Survival setup ?

Tony,

You can line up a couple of screws on one side of the RC-3 sheath with the RC-6 sheath but you would have to spacer the knives apart for it to work, and it would be a bulky package in my opinion.

Now that's what I'm talking about!
Ambidextrous, AND will have a pouch available (in the future). Cool.

I feel my credit card staring at me again. . .

Yes the MOLLE back will let the whole rig ride with the knife pommel below the belt line...or above the belt line..or on an extender strap for very low carry and on and on. The MOLLE back is jump proof like the RC-3 MOLLE back. The optional pouch that can also be bolted on will handle an Altoid tin and longer material. I am looking to have this available by end of March, maybe a bit earlier. Mike

I'm really liking the look of the new sheath. I didn't think it could get any better than you guys did w/ the RC3/RAT3 - but it looks like you guys have bumped it up another notch!
