Rc-6 vs bk-7

Munky88. I appreciate your opinion, there is about 50.00 difference in price between the knives and both are 1095. To many 50.00 is not much money but to a old retired guy it is. To me price is a very important feature and I am sure that Kabar does a good heat treat as well as I have used Kabars for longer that I care to admit. On the other hand, enough extra feature may well tempt me to spend the extra money. However I like to see all the options and views.

One need not apologize for wanting to save some money, especially in these times.

I, too, am living on a government pension, which isn't very much. I can sympathize with your position. It's one of the reasons I went with the Becker: great knife, low cost = great value for me. If I want a new knife I have to save up for it, so I saved for the Becker. But, cost aside, I still would have gone for the Becker because it was exactly what I wanted. Rat, however, would have been my second choice. And, yeah, to us old retired folks, $50 or $60 can be a lot of money.

Hey that is cool guys. I think I stated in my post that the Becker was the better value when money is an object. I think they are great knives and come with an extra inch of length to boot! No hard feelings Munky.....I was reacting to a perceived slam on 1095 rather than on the knives.

Again, I'll reiterate, I think both are solid choices and will suit you very well as a mid-size, do it all, type of blade.

I see your point. It does mean saving a little longer for the more spend y stuff, sometimes it's worth the wait and sometime we have a good product in different price ranges. Luck us.:)

I have a BK-7 and a RC-3mil and a RC-4 on the way. The BK-7 is really nice. Well made, good feel, very sharp out of the box and thick and sturdy. And actually it comes with 2 knives, the BK-7 and the BK-13 the small skelly knife, which is not a bad little knife (even if though the BK-13 is made in China). The biggest difference between the RC's and the BK's are the sheaths. If you are not happy with the BK sheath, you'll end up paying that extra money in a custom sheath, plus shipping and handling.
Bottom line. The blades are different, but I think fairly close to being equal quality. The sheaths are what the major difference in the knives IMO and well worth the extra money.
