The other advantage the RC6 has over the RAT-7 is the point on the RAT-7 comes to a 90 degree angle and is too blunt to shove through a sheet of typing paper. The RC6 tapers to a nice point.
Also, the sheath on the RC6 is far, far better.
The RAT-7 doesn't all of a sudden suck, it has the same weaknesses it always had. The RC6 is just executed better and is worth the extra $$.
1095 vs D2: D2 is nice on short blades (wouldn't go over 4" with it), but it's not too good on big knives, and I've noticed a much higher failure rate on D2 RAT-7s over the years versus 1095.
