RC hardness for survival knife?

This thread is almost 8 years old, but I think it's still very relevant. I wonder what has changed in those 8 years. CPM3V is now a big contender in the bushcraft/survival market, and maintains excellent toughness above 60HRC.

We are also seeing more of other promising steels like CTS-XHP and sleipner.

If this thread (or one like it) re emerges in another 8 years I wonder what will be out there then...

Ever try to sharpen a dull ATS-34 Buck Strider Solution by hand?

I sharpen my ATS34 knives (and all my other knives) by hand. It's the only way I've ever sharpened any knife in the last 45 years or so.

No because diamonds were invented before that time .How do I know ? because my first EZE-LAP sharpener is stamped with their CA address !!!
Power tools for sharpening is not a good idea as it can easily damage the HT !
