Thanks for all the info guys, I think the E-flite stuff is the direction I'm going to take.
I'm not sure how i missed this thread earlier.
Eflite stuff is great. I started out with planes, but switched over to helis because I can fly in the house with the small ones. With planes you are real limited to flying days, because of the wind.
My first heli was an Eflite mcx. Its a small 4 channel, and its easy to learn on. VERY durable as well... Now I have an mcx2. Its the same as the mcx, but it has a different body, flashing lights and bigger motors.
I had an Eflite cx2 but just sold it. I reworked it with bigger motors and other parts. It worked very well, but it was just a little to big for flying in the house, and the coax helis aren't real good for outside. So I'm going to get another heli to replace it, so I can fly outside when the weathers is good.
Horizon Hobby is the parent company that markets Eflite products. They have the absolute best customer service you could ever hope to find. They really care about the customers, and want them to enjoy their products. It is very common for a person to call with an issue, and they will send out replacement parts for free. They will also help you out with any issues you might have.
When you talk to them on the phone, you can tell they are concerned about your issues, and not just trying to keep the call short...
For your first heli, I would recommend the Eflite mcx. You can buy a brand new one with everything you need to fly, including a battery charger, for under 100 bucks.
Heres a picture of my CX2 I just sold.
