Nice. Where do you hunt them? They're in my backayard at my place in CO.

i shot this one, he was a little over 250yards away. the rifle is a CZ527 in .204. i trap them also, usually with snares.

Dude - I thought you were going to post that you chased it down on foot with the RC-3 in your teeth, then stabbed it to death...

I guess that would have messed up the pelt more than the .204 though!!!:D

Do you call them in? If so, what do you use? I've never hunted coyotes but there are EVERYWHERE here. Sometimes there so loud, numerous, and close that I'm almost nervous to go outside at night! (I mainly hear them in the evening.)

the yotes here are the ugliest SOB's I've ever seen. I think I'm going wolf hunting this year... season is open til march and I am a resident now so I can get a tag cheap. Put my .243 to good use :)

in wisconsin, farmers dig slaughter pits-craters that they put a chair and benchrest in and a 15 foot tall stake with spoiled meat on top. coyotes come in by the hundreds for the meat and circle the pit 3-4 times before making an attempt at it-gives you plenty of time to shoot them. They kill them by the pack back where I grew up. I would never hunt that way, I don't condone baiting-tracking the game is 90% of the fun in the hunt, I think.

the RC3 is a great skinning knife, but on coyotes i like a smaller blade.

thats another story for another day, although it was a badger not a coyote and it wasnt an RC3 but a big stick.

i call them with mouth calls and electronic calls, i also bait them in and trap them. never been scared of a yote before, when i was a kid learning to snare once in a while i would get a yote that wouldnt choke down. i never carried a gun with me but i did carry a fish bat. i would grab the live coyote by the back of the neck and bonk him on the head killing him instantly.only bitten once;) oh and i can always use help with gophers
