Morning all. I have a question on these 2 knives. If you had the extra money to spend would you just rather get the RC3 MIL over the regular RC3? I mean the only differences in the knife itself are the sharpened pommel, the handle material, and the MIL that is engraved on the blade next to RC3. You get many more carry options with the MIL. So my question is would you think its better to just go ahead and get the MIL if you had the extra bit of cash to spend?

The blade steel and length and thickness and weight are all the same right?

You also get both the MOLLE Locks and MOLLE back with the MIL version.

So if you had the extra cash at the time would you just get the MIL instead of the regular RC3? How sharp is the pommel at the back? Will it hurt or possibly cut me if i push my thumb on it while cutting really hard?

i recently went through this same questioning...I ended up with the mil...sharpened pom on mine would not interfere or cut your thumb (at least not the one I received)...Price difference wasnt that much with some on-line searching and a recent moderator post about personal experience needing to break a car window at an accident put me over the top for the decision...dont regret it at all...its a great tool.

Ya i remember that story that Jeff told in another thread. So the MIL definitely has its pros on that end with the sharpened pommel and all

What site did you purchase your RC3 MIL?

knivesshipfree.com is a great place to shop.

i also went with the rc-3mil over the regular rc-3. i wanted the sharpened pommel plus all of the extra carry options. the canvas is extremely nice. i was very impressed by how great it is to hold.

I just ordered a RC-3mil yesterday from TKC and thats two days after I ordered a RC-5
the thing I realy like about TKC is Dale has answered the phone every time I've called early or later and has put a order through and is very helpful, and I'm no one special to him. it's just great customer service. this is my frist RC-3 mil but it's my forth RC-3.
injoy your new RC-3 I know I will mine.

Get the Mil version, you know you want it and you will never have to regret not doing so!

If you want a RC 3 with a pointed pommel you can probably still find one...I just bought a NIB RC 3 on Sunday...it has the pointed pommel but it's not a MIL. I think this may be an early run from Rowen?

I'd prefer the canvas micarta, but don't want the glass breaker pommel. I'm happy for now with my new RC4, but when I buy an RC3 it will be the standard model, not the MIL. Just my preferences.

I have a mil and am pleased with. Haven't had a chance to use it hard but the pommel has never cut me. It's not razor sharp but pointy enough to break glass.

I'm wanting a RC-3 or RC-4. I'm just trying to justify it. I have no Rat Cutlery knives yet. But I have alot of knives in that 3.5 to 4.5 size range. Why do I want one? I have no idea why except they look like nice knives. I've looked at them for a few years now even when Ontario was making them but just never pulled the trigger. Heres what I do own and use. Now if its looked down upon to post this since there is no Rat Cutlery knives in the picture than please delete and accept my apology.
