I am about to get an RC3 (I just bought the RC6 about a month ago!!! :D)

I'd like to know your opinions on which one i should get...

I don't like the serrated edge (half i guess) or the clippoint...

Help me make up my mind :D :D :D

For a little more the MIL comes with more accessories and I won't lie, I'm jonesing for a set of canvas micarta scales. I'd love to have a set.

The MIL is just a little smaller with a sharpened pommel right?

Why won't i be disspointed if I get the MIL??? what other accessories does it have???

I am looking at knifeworks.com and for 85 bucks i can get the RC3P MB with boot clip... for another 10... i get the MIL...

Please help me!!!

Thanks...

Well I got my 3 orange kit, and I have the mil3 kit too, I like them both, but the orange is REALLY flashy....

I like my 3 when I go fishing, or am running around in wooded areas, cause god knows if I dropped it while chored in a task, I'd see it easily, but Urban wise I love my Mil better, less attention imo, do you have a hest? Maybe look into that?

i am not digging the looks of the HEST YET...

maybe later :D :D :D

I am not sure about the orange hanlde... what kind of texture is that one? does it have the same feel as the micarta?

what are the main differences that you can see between your orange hanlde one and the MIL??? other than one being orange? :D :D

If you get the MIL you wont be dissapointed at all. It comes with the glass breaker pommel and the boot clip/molle strap. It's a few bucks more but worth every penny. Plus you get the canvas micarta scales which I prefer over the other.

about the glassbreaker pommel... can't you use the tip of your knife as a glassbreaker???

any other differences?

you did mention the canvas micarta scales... but like i said, i can get a RC3 DT MB with canvas micarta scales for 85 bucks...

The MIL isn't smaller, it's the same knife.

The standard 3 has a pointed pommel
The MIL has that point sharpened
The modified pommel is round

My vote would still go for the MIL. Canvas micarta, molle back and molle lock with it.

so far more points towards the MIL...

anyone else has a preference?

I know the MIL is only 10 more dollars, but i don't really need the molle locks (still have them from my RC6...)

I am going to repeat myself here (SORRY)... but for 85 bucks I can get same handles as the MIL, with same equipment (except the MOlle locks)...

The MIL is only $10 extra... but do I really need the sharpened pommel? Is that the only difference between teh MIL and Regular RC3?

Sorry to ask so much... i guess i just need a little PUSH :D :D

I own an RC-3 & RC-3mil and much prefur the canvas scales on the Mil over the linen scales. I say spend the extra $10 and get the Mil, you won't be dissapointed.

getting one of each? :)
I rather get one and then maybe the Izula next :D :D :D

AZwaterRat.. is it because of the canvas micarta?
I am trying to understand why the MIL is better??? If it's the canvas micarta... i can get teh DT with green canvas micarta...

come on guys... give me a better reason!!! just that push that will make me 100% certain of what I want...

I would never say the Mil is "better" it's just I prefer the canvas scales over the linen. The canvas just feels better in my hand. Plus I like the pointed pommel in case I ever need to punch out a window.

only 10 bucks more - why not get it? You'll get a few extra things that I'm sure you'll use, and even if you dont, and you did say that you have them from your 6, well stick them in a drawer, you might use them one day? and if the pointed pommel is really annoying, I'm sure you'd be able to round it of a bit.

I think if you don't get the RC3 mil, you'll be kicking yourself about it later

EDIT: Also about the glassbreaker pommel, you could use the tip, but the pommel is much thicker, and far, far less likley to break smashing glass then the tip would, and if its thick glass, I know I would prefer to be hammering on it with a pointed pommel rather than a rounded one, let alone the tip of my knife? What would you prefer to be using?

everyone likes the MIL huh?

it seems like I just want to get the other one and I am waiting for someone to tell me that it is the right choice :)

I guess I know what you prefer...

Now I'll have to make up my mind :D :D :D

about the glassbreaker pommel... can't you use the tip of your knife as a glassbreaker???

the glassbreaker pomel is a more sustantial point, the tip of the blade is very thin.

haven't yet seen a good pic of the Mil's sharpened breaker.

soo, it's *possible* that you might damage the tip if you were using it as a glass breaker. not a huge problem if you're using it to save a life at the scene of an accident and you could probably regrind the tip to fix it. having the breaker and using it just eliminates any chance of damaging the blade.

while i've never had to attack auto glass with a knife, i have done some damage to the steel body of a vehicle... and with a much cheaper blade, with a much sharper point that any of the ESEE blades. it didn't have any noticeable damage. might have needed sharpening after that stunt, but then it needed to be sharpened before it was used on the car too.

while plenty of people like the Mil version and i can't fault that, you might just want to buy the one that speaks to you... or some people will always wish they did. at the price, it's not a major flub if you find you want the other one later.

the orange scales are great, but not for everyone. i've known people who've lost blades while out in the wild... they dropped it *somewhere* and couldn't find it, even they were looking in the right spot. might not be so great in the fall in some areas tho. here in my AO, i might have trouble finding one of the desert blades if i dropped it..

ideally, if you could compare them side by side it would make your choice easier. can't really do that with online ordering.
