Which do you think will be a better EDC blade? Which has the thinner blade? Which is more comfortable carrying concealed? How comfortable are the canvas micarta slabs on the RC3 MIL? Thanks

IMO the RC3 is the more comfortable of the two and I believe it has a thinner blade. The overall smaller size of the izula however is more inconspicuous, and is still plenty of blade for most edc purposes. I'd go for the Izula if concealment is an issue

-For EDC, the Izula is hard to beat.
-The RC-3 actually has the thinner blade.
-The small size of the Izula makes it not only comforftable, but nearly unnoticed.
-Don't have an RC-3 mil but I've never heard a lot of people say the canvas is more comfortable than the linen micarta, just different.

Izula fits in a pocket really easily. With the handle not wrapped it's pretty thin. It's possible to push on the sheath with your thumb to release it.

I don't have an RC-3 (yet) so all I can say is I love my Izula!

the izula's less bulky and i do not even notice it on my belt with the tek-lok . but iam still getting a rc3.

If you prefer to carry a knife concealed or in your pocket, the Izula is the way to go. I've been carrying mine in my left front pocket since I got it... many months ago.

If you're in a situation where an exposed knife is fine, the RC-3 is a very good blade. It's light and a good size for every day. I in fact carry my RC-3 while backpacking and hunting and have never felt underknifed.

it also depends on any laws restricting blade length. if there is none. than the RC-3 from the belt should be fine. but if you live in a place where blade length is restricted, like me, the izula is a good choice.

Many people dont like it if you carry a fixed blade in plain view of the public. It makes them nervous. Besides, i dont like showing everyone and there mother i have a knife on me. I really like the look of the RC3 MIL but for an everyday carry knife i think im gona have to go with the IZULA. Unless any of you have any experience carrying the RC3 concealed and would like to share some stories? The handle on the RC3 seems like it would be a little bulky for concealed carry. Opinions?

if you were concealing the izula that should be easy. if you wanted to conceal the RC-3 the only places i could think to carry it could be small of back or underneath your arm. the only advantage of the RC-3 would be handle length /blade length. to me the izula is a great knife. and you could probably wrap the izula to make it more comfortable. it is also more sheeple friendly not to mention it is a lot lighter.

I actually try to carry at least partly open. When I have the Izula, I tie it either to a loop inside the pocket or some belt loop, and tie it high enough to let the handle stick out a little.

Though if you wear a sweater you'd conceal it with that. The same goes for the RC-3 - the standard sheath rides so high, the whole thing can disappear under a sweater.

I'm just trying in pocket carry with the boot clip ... not really fitting for ladies pants ...
I guess I prefer the Izula as EDC, and just put the RC-3 on a pack or so ...

I was thinking the same thing. IZULA as an EDC and the RC3 on a pack or when i go hiking or trailing. I would love to get both, money is kinda tight and i have a $200 budget. Would like to get a sharpmaker too. Decisions, decisions :D

you can google it. they range from the upper 40's to the low 70's. as to a walk in store i dont know where you are. if you are in SoCal i would try plaza cutlery.

One thing to consider between the two knives is that the RC-3 has a large finger choil, the Izula does not. That may or may not be an issue for you.

I carry the rc3 concealed without issue. It fits in my jeans pocket just fine. Using the boot clip gives many carry options. I've been edcing it recently, and it's fairly comfortable in that role, but it is a large knife I think. The izula is tiny and does the job fairly well. I take either on a given day now, and am always happy

the HEST is the best of both worlds-the beefy blade of the RC3 and the low profile of the Izula.
