I'm sad to say this RC4 will be flying it's way back to fellow forum member Kgd soon and as he asked me to put it through it's paces I keep tryng to use it on tasks that I usually use my other knives on. Unforunately the weather is keeping me from spending as much time out as I would like but I did find one task for the knife today !!!

Check out this ugly lump of Fatwood that I found today......

Splitting this stuff up is sticky, messy work so I decided to let the RC4 see how it coped.....

Although not as hard as the Maple I tried it on before this Fatwood does have some tough spots and I showed the RC4 no mercy.
It came through with flying colours and revealed the true beauty of the Fatwood !!!

Hey pitdog, that was a great score on the fatwood. Is that the piece you worked out with the tracker in your other thread from today? If you are wanting to return the RC-4, maybe we need to find a new CDN tester.....Bushman is right around your parts. Bushman - would you be up to taking the RC-4 for a bit of a test drive????

(Note - unfortunately the knife doesn't come with a pelican case sheath :D)

Whoa .... looks like you struck fatwood gold there partner !!!

Is the RC4 convexed ?

No this was a different piece bro !!!

I'm pretty jealous, I've only found a chunk of fatwood once and it wasn't very good quality. Unfortunately, in these parts evergreens are pretty rare and mostly restricted to lawn ornaments.

You must live in the tropical part of Canada, right? Palm trees as far as the eye can see.;)

I'm in the same boat. Except for some town park land and yards, I haven't been able to locate a good chunk of fatwood that I could chop up.

Next time I head for the Adirondacks, I'll try to seek out a blowdown conifer and take home a few root sections.
