RC5 Alot more pics !!!

No not paces, like a short walk in the park....THE RC5 is the Strongest RC knife on the market... The RC5 laughed at me ,I did not break it in or even warm her up....just a tease,LOL (insert Dylside joke here). I mean the scuffs on the paint are wood fibers, most wiped clean, barely marred the finish....
LOL! You really need to get yur ass out here for the Blade show or something and have some beers.

I would like somekind of a brown leathersheath for this beautiful knife. Can you make a "civilian version" with a leathersheath as an option? I would buy one instantly.
It looks like this knife could be an alternative to the more expensive Fällkniven A1.

Well I'm doing it... I can't help it, I'm a weak man... I just got off the phone with Cumberland Knife Works to see if they have access to the RC-5. Bill Horn took good care of me with my first RAT's, so I'm sticking with him.

Tony, a question for you... In the 2nd & 3rd pics I see a standard molded sheath, is that also for the RC-5, or was it laying around from RC-4 comparison pics? I ask since the molded sheath are great for EDC and IWB.... Not that it would keep me from carrying the RC5.

Also, I too wear a medium glove, so that is a perfect perspective.
Thanks as always!!

The RC5 comes with a great sheath ,Granted sounds like you'd like to be less tactical looking, well I have altered my plans on my Tandem leather I am waiting on...I think I am going to forget the RC6/RC3 duo & go with the RC5 & Izula....

That was the sheath to the RC4...THe RC5 comes with the Eagle brand Sheath & a Great sheath I might add !

Great! I just got my Izula this week. But a singelsheath would be perfect.
And yes please, a less tactical look is better. I might get a custom sheath, but it´s so much easier to get a complete knife with leathersheath, as I live across the atlantic.

Tony.

Another bowdrill tip.

Use a reverse twist layover on the cord (like when making cordage) it will give way better purchase to the drill spindle. It also helps to make the spindle octagonal.

And how does the knife performs when it comes to fuzzsticks? I was thinking about regrind it to convex grind, like Fällkniven A1.

I was more focused on doing the Bow drill task that I did not try a fuzz stick attempt,I did shave bark and in one pic,I think it tried to do a fuzzy but it was not done with purpose...

Someone PM'd me and asked if the RC5 had a chip in the edge..so I will post my answer...No chip or ding on the edge..the little black mark on the edge is from the RAT fire kit where I struck it 1 time to get the fire going,I use a DMT stone a few strokes and the mark is no longer there...

When I get mine (which CRKS says will be end of next week) the first thing I'm gonna do is convex the edge. Shouldn't have any problem doin fuzz sticks.

I convex just the edge. This thins out the edge providing a very sharp, reinforced edge. Which performs better at tasks such as fuzz sticks etc. Plus being very easy to maintain with a strop.

My old camillus pilots survival knife I spent around 30 hours with a diamond hone and scandi'd the edge using th blade bevels. That thing is sharper than a scalpel. I could do the same to the RC5, but that was a lot of work.

Tony.

How big is the pouch on the sheath? I'm hoping to be able to fit both a multi tool and a Falkniven DC4 in it.

I'm wondering about that myself.....

TTD, I have another question: on none of the photographs of the RC5 I've seen so far there seems to be a layer of fibrous material between the micarta handle slabs and the tang. Is this correct?

Not that all of this would stop me from purchasing the knife though :D

Thx,

D-R

Canvas micarta doesn't require a fiber liner to achieve a good fit like linen does. This is why the RC-3/4 don't have fiber liners on the canvas/tan models.

Aha, I didn't know that :o... Form follows function, heh. Very nice!

Thx for the speedy reply:thumbup:, FortyTwoBlades!
