During the fire bow work out...I mean a work out ...I need to practice badly but I did get fire(w/the RC fire kit,1strike)but having the bow divot will make me practice more...never one time did the knife ever slip, excellent grip factor,The RC5 is tuff as nails....I chopped, cut, hacked and made fire.....I love the RC5..of course the sharpen pommel is not really needed for me . It has the feel of a great chopper only limited to it's 5" blade...It will chew up some wood, the sheath ,well it has so many carry option to accept any carry option you chose..

The RC5 looks sweet, and congrats on the bow drill fire. Those are tough to get right.

Thanks for the pics/review Tony  I don't think I NEED this guy, but I sure do WANT one :D

nice looking blade, I can't wait to get my hands on one ...

great photos!

Looks like a nice knife. I like them more the more I see them. If it was a full height grind in 3/16 or 5/32 thickness I'd be all over it, but the current grind at 1/4 is just too much.

Thanks guys...The RC5 is a great knife for those who love to hack your way thru life...If you are a hardcore Bushcraft guy/gal well you know the stats on 1/4" thick Saber grind ,built more towards Strength and full blown survival in a Downed vehicle/Aircraft type thing....Geared towards LEO/Armed Forces peeps. I really have fun and enjoy this knife,I'm going to buy another and get it convex when cash flow picks up

What is the handle material? I see it is uneffected by the bow drill. I melt a LOT of stuff practicing with different materials with my hand holds. That is COOL!

Canvas Micarta....I only bow drilled for 20-25minutes and quit..I got tired of messing around and used my RC fire kit...1 strike and I had a fire

Nice review Tony. I love those Eagle sheaths. Especially when it was demonstrated on the rat page that the RC-3 fits neatly into the pouch pocket of the eagle sheath for piggy back option with the RC-5.

I'm a bit like Rocketbomb, however, it is just too substantive a knife for me. In the end I think I prefer the RC-6. I find 3/16" plenty robust and I absolutely adore the balance and speed of the RC-6. How do you find the balance of the RC-5 relative to the RC-6?

It is kind of cool how they took the dibit design from their TOPs laser and applied it to this knife. Makes you kind of think they could do the same with the RC-4 and capture a market who would more likely use this feature of the blade. Still, it is a very novel and innovative design feature. Rat seems to keep cranking this great ideas out!

Thanks kgd, I understand and see your perspective on the RC5 vs the RC6......I did not compare the RC6 to the RC5 I just had to much on my plate last night to do a comparison between RC6 & RC5 But I will get to it...The RC6 is an Excellent knife and will be hard to top.... but those folks who Love the 1/4" thick blades will adore the RC5. I sold off my BATAC but that is what it reminded me of upon releasing it from the sheath. The RC5 rocks !
