I would like to remove whats left of the coating on my RC6 and polish it up nicely so it shines like the Fallkniven F1. Anyone know of a good easy method on how to do this? Anyone done it before? Pics and a "How To" would be great. Thank you

And how would i keep it nice?

You could try 220 grit sandpaper. However, I find it takes a while even with 60 grit paint stripper, and that usually leaves deep scratches in the blade.

You could try the "Extra Fast Cut" Stainless Compound from Caswell. I've ordered one myself to remove scratches from my blades(haven't got it yet).

Might as well mirror polish the whole blade while you're at it:thumbup:.

The coating will easily come off with stripper, underneath the surface is blasted. Get some coarse, medium, and fine scotch brite pads and rub. If you make long lengthwise strokes from butt to tip you will have a very sweet satin finish.

EasyOff Oven Cleaner? Or would that be a bad idea for steel? I used that to strip anodizing off of an aluminum flashlight, but I don't know how steel would react to it.

do you know anyone who has a glass bead booth? you can remove the coating and put a nice finish on the knife all in one step. dont use sand since its too coarse. if you want to see what a glass bead finish looks like, the very top knife at this link has a glass bead finish. the other 2 longer blades have a glass bead finish also but the top one shows it better. http://mysite.ncnetwork.net/ress6fq6/id19.html

Yeah...I was trying to be funny (It would've been funnier if I could have pulled off an upper midwest accent like the folks in the move Fargo). My ESEEs are users too. None have that kind of wear but someday!

I am guessing some serious firewood has met it's match in that ESEE-6.

Personally I love the look of worn, scratched, weathered, seasoned, nasty-looking-been through a poundin-been through hell-KNIVES! just food for thought..

Not sure about doing the whole knife, but if you just want to clean up the blade I did it with my Izula.

Started with this...

I layed sandpaper on a flat peice of wood and drug the blade srtaight down (edge trailing) along the paper. Started with about 120 grit and worked all the way up to 2000, then finished on a strop. This is the result....

Took a few hours to do it, which isn't too bad for me since I work kinda slow. :) There are a few scratches still visible, but I probably could have worked them out if I cared to try hard enough. As you can see though, the blade is still quite mirror like, and I think the knife slices much better than before.

Funny guy here again.

So you chopped off a toad's head? I don't think you need a Falkniven to do that. That doesn't seem like much of a challenge at all in fact. Chop off a grizzly bear's head and post that. Then you'd really have a picture to share.

So, toads are the most dangerous game?

disclaimer: you did post a headless toad, what did he do to you? Did you eat it? Old school reference from my adopted father "you kill it, YOU eat it!"

Yes, I ate some interesting stuff back then, taught me a good lesson

The last thing I beheaded was a nice fat doe, she was good eating

Back to on topic:

As much coating is gone its somewhat easy to do the rest, the aforementioned scotchbrite is a good place to start. Gives me ideas for my RC 6! :D

Maybe i'm missing something because of the language barrier.
Since the op posted about an f1 i thought to advise him to get one, since i like it.
In good humour i posted a picture of "my try to fix the rc-6 mod"
A pic of an f1. With a toad, and fishimg hooks.
Fwiw, i used it as bait, should have used another pic.
