RC6 sheath

Hi guys,

Just received my RC5 and RC6 and they're everything I've read about. Serious tools that will be seeing some hard use.

I have a quesion about the sheath that came with the RC6...it's the dark tan one, with plastic MOLLE type clips.

Does anyone know if RAT has a sheath for the RC6 that's similar to the black kydex one that came with the RC5? If not, I'll have to look for a kydex sheath maker that can fabricate one.

Thanks.

from what I've heard the RC-6 is going to the same sheath style as the new kydex for the RC-5 but I don't think it's happend yet or you may have older stock! I'm sure the new one will be available on it's own or you could see what buy brown could make for you....

I thought they were going to a kydex sheath as well, but looking on RC's website it states that they are going to still use the molded plastic sheath. The change seems to be that they will no longer ship with the molle locks and instead, ship with the new plastic clip. Either way, I have no idea when they will begin to ship to dealers.

Maybe Mike, Jeff, or Shon can clear this up.

I don't think the RC-6 is going to kydex. They spent a huge amount of energy tooling up and getting the RC-6 one worked out. Their costs were all in the tooling of the molds for it. Now that can pump 'em out. It would be crazy to abandon their design now.

Anyhow, not many folks like the looks of the tan molded sheaths. However, I'll appeal to get beyond the fashion statement (which is really pissing me off here at RatCutlery - I mean geese guys - talk about the knives and not the damn colors) and work with it for a bit. You'll soon find that the sheath that comes with the knife is incredibly versatile, more so than most kydex ones. I like the rivets on either side which is kind of a specialty of the RATs.

Here was my review from last year on the sheaths.

Just wait until you see the cool MOLLE back and accessory pouch that Mike has finished designing for both the RC-6 and RC-5 sheath. I am cutting a purchase order today for a pile of these from the manufacturer. This is good stuff. Maybe we will have them in about 4-6 weeks and ready to sell.

*trys to wait for it* ...... i been wanting one of those shealth sence the first pic you posted .... so happy its hit another milestone..... I'm in line for one as soon as you tell me where to pick em up at....

That might be even better than the belt clip back. I think I'll wait on that one.

Apologies for the major delays on these projects, but it's truly because we could not get manufacturers to make them as we wanted them.

Just depends on how you are carrying the knife and whether you want the cheaper route (clip) or the much more expensive route (heavy duty MOLLE back)

Being an old guy and not one to wear MOLLE gear, maybe the belt clip is better. As it is, I can attach the plastic sheath to my pack with the paracord and lock provided. I like to carry my knife on the belt where a pistol would normally go, but I don't usually carry a pistol while hiking.

I contacted Lisa at Two Wolves Outdoor Gear and she has them on order. She will contact me when they arrive. I guess I'll find out the price then. Looks like the perfect fix for my RC-6 sheath.

I don;t know where rumors get started but we have never stated that we are going to be going to a Kydex sheath on the 6. We have no intentions of this at this time.

The new MOLLE back that will fit both Rc5 and RC6 sheaths is two piece, has MOLLE straps, a belt loop in each half, can be carried whole or taken apart for a minimalist carry, jump proofs both knives and the list goes on. The project was truely a test of patience for Jeff and I both and we both anguished over getting the details made right by a manufacturer. Literally we went through 4 different manufacturers and about 12 proto types to get to the final version. Why? Because we didn't want to hear you ladies whine after it came out that "It doesn't have this!" or "It doesn't have that!" .:):) So the MOLLE back and the accessory pouch will allow you guys to set either the RC5 or RC6 up for about any carry option you can think of and then some. And it won't break your bank account to buy it.:) They are cutting cordura as I type and sewing so I would expect 4-6 weeks on delivery on the first batch. Soon as I know I will post and let everyone know. Mike

As Mike said, but the RC-6 sheath is still the same RC-6 molded sheath. That hasn't and won't change for right now. The RC-5 will remain a Kydex sheath.

I have no problem at all with the molded sheath itself. The new belt clip back should make it carry better on a belt, though.

The new belt clip is really nice. Drops the sheath down so the knife handle is not poking you so much in the ribs.

Can't wait to get both the clip AND the MOLLE backing for mine!
