I ordered it from Justin not even 2 weeks ago and it's in my hand already. Justin made a super blade with satin finish and blue scales. I can't wait to destroy something with it, it's a tank. I feel like trees are gonna run scared as soon as I step in the forest this week-end...:) A super blade by a super guy for a super happy guy...:) Cheers!!!

This thread is not worth anything without pics. Congrats on your great new knife!

Justin is great to deal with. The knives are just outstanding and strong, and have a great quality.
Don't want to start a sh1tstorm, but I think these blades are a poor mans Busse.... :D
And I like every inch of these blades!

Have fun with it!

Pics...I demand pics. Torn between the RD4 and the RD6 myself.

CZ...I've heard someone somewhere say that Busses are just overpriced Rangers. I can't remember who said it or where...maybe on TV or somehting.

Busse sold Justin the original blanks for the RD seres, so effectively, he helped Justin get where he is today. They are good friends and have a great respect for each others work. I wish that respect could extend to everyone.

On a lighter note, Great choice Treg! Now please get some pics! :D I can host them for you.

No disrespect intended towards Busse, leatherman...I've just noticed there is some, what appears to be, good-natured rivalry among the fans of the brands.

To say nothing of the amount of "crossover" fans.

I off to the cabin this week-end and I'll take pics of the beast in action, so be patient my friends you'll get them...:) Chop chop and away!!!

Thats cause most of the fans have both!:p
Oh, and did someone say PICS yet?? :D

Leatherman, I also have NO disrespect towards Busse or SRKW or SY. I just don't want to pay that much for a user.

Marcinek, I don't know what you're talking about...... :D

Thanks,

I don't think you'll regret getting the RD-6. Justin makes great knives for heavy use and abuse, and above all is a very good guy to deal with.

As for the topic of Busses, there's a lot in common between Busses and Rangers - both are meant for serious abuse and designed not to fail you even if you do something stupid. The main difference is one of price and availability. I like my Busses, and I like my Rangers. :)

Elen,

Did you buy your Busses in Europe? If yes, Where? I've read the Busse company doesn't ship in Europe.

dantzk.

I bought some from fellow knifenuts in Finland and in Russia, but I did just a while ago order a Busse from the Busse Company Store, and they not only shipped it to Europe, but did so very fast. Unless I'm mistaken, Busse themselves will also ship to Europe. The Company Store certainly will.

Elen,

Great! Thanks for the reply. I'm a hatchet user but i would like to give a try to a large blade. Have to decide now about the maker and, of course, have to consider a Busse as a possibility. Thanks again.

No problem. I prefer hatchets and axes for dealing with chopping and splitting wood myself, but large knives are much more fun, if not as practical and efficient. :D

If you're getting a large knife, the Ranger RD9 would be an excellent choice, and the price would be hard to beat. It's also readily available, while Busses are a bit harder to come by, since the Company Store only has small blades in stock currently, and the Busse factory is churning out their Scotch Dispenser model, which is essentially a small back-up blade (3" of cutting edge). If you can get one, the Busse Battle Mistresses are excellent, though.

If you haven't used big knives before, you might also want to go cheap first just to see if you like knives that heavy and long. In that case, Ka-Bar makes heavy bowies that are extremely good value for the money.
